Hi,

Joomla n00b here, so I apologize in advance if this question is dumb and/or has been answered before – I checked both the forums and the FAQ, but didn't find anything.

I'm trying to find out what's the most sensible method to create a page with this simple layout in Joomla:

WELCOME

(Static welcome text)

NEWS

News item #3 headline (2009-11-07)
(News text)

News item #2 headline (2009-11-01)
(News text)

News item #1 headline (2009-10-24)
(News text)

...

I'd like to handle each of the news items (which will be akin to blog posts) independently, but the page layout should make clear that the list of news is hierarchically one level below the top (=on the same level as the welcome text). Intuitively, it seems to me that an arrangement like this would solve the problem elegantly:

ARTICLE 1 (Welcome)
ARTICLE 2 (News)
+- SUB-ARTICLE #3
+- SUB-ARTICLE #2
+- SUB-ARTICLE #1

Is this possible, or am I entirely on the wrong track? Ideally, I'd like to just write a new article with a distinct section/category assignment (main/news or something) and have it appear at the top of the list, but so far, I couldn't find any way to do this.
