I just installed Joomla for the 1st time.
It's a brand new site www.2010Troop1907.info.
I got everthing working until I got to the "edit some of the settings for the template" in the "Quick Start Guide."
I couldn't change the color to green as instructed.
The Parameters area says "The parameter file /templates/rhuk_milkyway/params.ini is unwritable!"
What do I need to do?

Go to your joomla extension directory

Go to templates >> your template

Go to parameters.ini >>> make it writable (not read only).

OK

Try now.

Let me know if this doesn't help.

Thanls for the help.

Do you mean the extensions button on the administrators page?
I've been there and it only takes me to template manager and that is where it says "unwritable!"
I've been to the files directory on my server and there is no extentions folder, or parameters.ini file.

Need more information!

Hi,

Did you ind the directory? it is in your server/joomla15(your joomla directory)and template folder. You will find separate folders for each template. there u'll find the parameters.ini file. give it read write access or make it writable.

When i go into the templates folder I can find the template I'm using and in that folder I find the params.ini file and it only has:

colorVariation=red
backgroundVariation=red
widthStyle=fmax

Maybe I made a mistake on the instalation.

Thanks for the help.

George

Ok , you are on the right way. Tell me which os u r using. windows/mac. if windows - you open your template's folder. there u 'll see param.ini file. do not open the file. just right click on the file and choose propertise. there you'll see if it is read only or not. if it is read only unclick the box.
if its mac. you have to give read write permission to the same file.

try this.

Thanks for the reply!!!

I went into the windows file and the Read Only box was not marked.

Checking the server file manager I found the Apache permission three digit code and reset it.
That did the trick.

Thanks Agian,
