No problem. I actually modified my signature because this happens pretty often. I'm glad to help and will respond to any PMs, but most people don't understand that and I think other users do not want to get PM'd directly.

Anyway, onto your problem. When you say you can not make the forum work, can you be more specific? Can you not create a menu item for it or does the page give you an error when you go to it or what?

There are no error messages. I just dont understand what i need to do in order for the forum to work.

When i go into my website as a registered user under the forum menu this is what it says: The forum component is not installed. Please contact your site administrator.

Searching through my code, I found that message in two places:

plugin\language\default_language\default_language.php
Code:
DEFINE('_UE_SBNOTINSTALLED','The forum component is not installed.  Please contact your site administrator.');

plugin\user\plug_cbsimpleboardtab\cb.simpleboardtab.php
Code:
return CBTxt::T( 'The forum component is not installed.  Please contact your site administrator.' );

I can look at the code more, but my guess is that you need to install the forum component on it's own.

Here is a thread I found on CB's site discussing this:
http://www.joomlapolis.com/component/option,com_joomlaboard/Itemid,38/func,view/id,40822/catid,28/

The CB documentation probably also has more info on setting up the forum component to work with it.

If you need more help, let me know.

Not at all. I'm here to help and totally expect some back and forth.

Are you using the Joomla Install Manager to install Kunena?

Nope.

Let me see if I can help explain a little and maybe that will clear things up.

I assume this is what you have done:
  • Install Joomla!. This is a CMS and allows you to have users and articles, menus and all sorts of good stuff.
  • Using the Joomla! installer, install Community Builder. This is a Joomla component that allows you to have more community features like user profiles, messaging, etc. This does not include a forum by default, but does include ways to link to a forum you may have installed. I don't have much experience with this, so I would have to look at the CB documentation to see which forum they suggest using. Since you are trying to use Kunena, I assume this is what they are suggesting.
  • Using the Joomla! installer, install Kunena (or whatever forum CB suggests). Once this is installed, it ties into the Joomla! user/authentication system, so users that log into your site can post on here and will also get CB profiles and other features on your site.

Is this where you are now? If so, is the issue that you still just get that message that forums are not installed? If so, I'm wondering if CB does not integrate with Kunena. I can look more at the CB code and see if I can figure out exactly what it's trying to do.

Let me know if I missed any steps you went through that might help me understand what you are trying to do and what's going wrong.

Hope this helps. Sorry about no messenger.

Sorry, that was for Joomla! 1.0 and I didn't realize.

This looks like the Joomla! 1.5 equivalent:
http://help.joomla.org/content/view/1476/97/

You are actually installing Kunena in Joomla!, not in Community Builder.

Let me know if this helps.
