Joomla t-shirt on drupal leader

Postby Terenzusum on Sun Oct 09, 2005 8:02 pm

In the afternoon we had a nice visit from some of the guys from the Joomla stand (the CMS formerly known as Mambo). No, they didn't throw the towel in and decide to switch to Drupal (yet!), but they did have good things to say about Drupal, and it was an interesting discussion.

At the end of the show we had one t-shirt left, so we decided to give it to the Joomla (Mambo) guys ;-)

Being good sports, they offered to swap t-shirts with us.

On went the t-shirts.... a very weird sight, Andrew Eddie (Joomla Project Leader) wearing a Drupal t-shirt and Dikini (Vladinir Zlatanov) in a Joomla! t-shirt - almost as unlikely as seeing Killes wearing an "I Love Windows" t-shirt.

All in all a great show, very enjoyable, and we raised the profile of Drupal with users, developers and other Open Source projects.

Correction: Dikini is not the Drupal project leader. Here's the source of the text quoted above.

Dries Buytaert is the Drupal project leader, and in fact the only person with any kind of formal title.

It was nice to meet the Joomla team, congratulations on winning the Linux & Open Source Awards.

Yes please - this thread comparing Mambo/Joomla to Drupal could use more input from Joomla developers.

If Joomla is a better tool for a particular user we're quite happy to steer them over here.

just an idea, why not do a cross reference between Joomla & Drupal

One representative from joomla gives his pro and cons on drupal
and one representative from drupal do his version of Joomla pros and cons

I think this would be fair  :)

This is already done on an informal basis.  I commonly refer people to plone or drupal if their needs are such that Joomla! will not satisfy them.  I think its great that what I think are the 3 top open source CMSes have close ties.

Brian, et al,

We need some t-shirts for the Non-Profit Technology Conference happening March 23-25, and Penguin Day happening March 26 in Seattle.  Where can we get some?

Best,

We might just have to settle for Joom!Fish t-shirts. Alex Kempkens, core Joomla! dev, is selling those at  < http://thinklabs.net/external/joomfish_shop.html >.

Gosh darn you guys (and gals!).  We've been so busy here that we haven't finished the setup of our Joomla t-shirt site.  Ok, since people are still asking, I'm going to see what i can do this weekend to get something up for you all.

Just wanted to express my need in some t-shirt, too. ;)

Do you have only the t-shirts or a complete collection? Something like shorts, cocktail glasses and all. For the guys that use Joomla and have more freetime because of it. I allready see me on our lake sitting with a Joomla! shirt and shorts, in a Joomla camping chair, with a Joomla cocktail glas drinking a Daiquire Joomla. ;)
