Hello Joomlans. I need some help to modify the rhuk solarflare ii template. Id like to remove the top links, and right side module that is flush right of header. Ive already moved the search box under the main menu. My intention is to have the header image span across the top of the entire template, and not fall short on right side where the newsflash module currently is. Not knowing much if any php is a problem.  :( Can anyone help with this? I really like the rest of this template and would like to use it if modifying it is not too big a task.
Thanks for any help.

Edit: Thought I hit the jump menu to the templates section, but I must have messed up somewhere. Can someone move this to templates please? Thanks.

Thank you Pe7er.

Now Ive tried editing the template code in index.php and tried every variation of removing the div tags to no avail whatsoever. I can remove the text that says" Module Empty", but cant figure out for the life of me how to remove the outline box.
I was however able to remove the powered by image and box, so now my advertisemment can be much wider and centered.
Now, if I can only figure out how to remove the top outline box where top links are, and the right side search box and empty module box below that, I think my head could stretch across entire template and look more centered and not so cluttered.

Sooooo, can anyone give me a clue as to where and what to look for?  ???  Thanks

I have still been trying to get this to work with not much success. Heres a screen shot of what Im trying to accomplish which may explain it easier. In first pic, Im trying to remove the empty boxes the red arrows point to.
If I can figure out which code to edit to accomplish this, I think I can make my header wider and fill in the gaps and clear out the top space where the top links would be. Note picture 2 is what Im trying to accomplish.
Please, point me in right direction or help show me which code to edit to make this work. Thanks again for any help with this.

Here is the index.php and the css file - if you compare the files you can see that just the top and the search have been removed and the button (top menu) and header css has been expanded from 635px to 800px .  You will also have to resize your logo to take up the entire space (I would make it a little bit smaller  - 798px just to give it some breathing room.

They are txt files, so you will need to copy each into their respective php and css files.

Edit I have included a screen shot from my test install.

WOW! Your my hero!  :-* That worked fantastic. Im going to have to look at your code and my old code and try to figure it out for future use. I have spent the last 2 1/2 days trying to delete a snipet of code here and upload and review and undo, and back and forth driving my self crazy. Thank you very much.  I suppose I should order the book and learn this stuff a bit better. This is all so very interesting.

edit: how do i mark this thread solved?

Here is the edited pages that remove the small banner and makes the large banner span across the content area, while centering it.  I have also included a screen shot.

Edit:  I removed the files that were saved incorrectly.

I too am using the SolarFlare template. I got all I want except for the header image linking back to the home page (index.php). Seems that it would be part of the default template.  Has any one had any luck getting the header to link back to the home page when it is clicked?

I am having this same problem and am interested in the fix for it, if anybody has one.

Also, I am having issues with background color on FF and IE.  Looks great on FF, but won't come out at all on IE.  Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I need that 'remove top menu in php' mod as well, but I can't see MMMedia's files anywhere. What am I missing?

And Trev Rich, this what you need. The page outer surround is in the CSS at around line 332. This one now has a grey surround. Maybe comment the code, like this, when you find what something does - then next month you can find it again quick.

/* page outer surround */
body {
margin: 15px;
height: 100%;
padding: 0px;
font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Sans Serif;
line-height: 120%;
font-size: 11px;
color: #333333;
background: #DDDAD5;
}

am doing a very similar thing, although I am keeping the user4 (search). What has confused me is that I have removed the left position so that everything now shifts over to the left, but there is now a gap on the right of everything below the header, even though in dreamweaver it says that its 100%. I have attached my index and css file if anyone wants to point out what I'm doing wrong.

cheers

Kris

just to make myself a bit clearer, it seems that the 100% of anything below the header is narrower than above. I use the right hand area because on pages that need a menu the page is resized to accomodate it, but on pages that require full width (forum) the area is empty. Its almost as if there is another column to the right of the lower sections. Would really appreciate if anyone could shed light on this.

cheers

Kris

I haven't worked with the Rokwebify template much myself.  I suggest you down load it, look at the tutorials, see what they have placed in the bottom modules and try to replicate it in your template.

I’m a newbie. I’m trying to modificate the rhuk_solarflare_ii template, and I have read a lot of times this issue trying to understand how you can just make this 3 little changes:
1. I want to put a flash object or big image on the top of my site, from side to side; a big banner where I will present my site.
2. Immediately after that banner I want to show the menu that now is shown on the top.
3. At the right side, where now is the pool, I would like to show the “Search”, the “Newsflash” and the “powered by” image.

I think I’m trying to do the same thing that webhead1 was doing. I’m reading the explanation that people gives to him, but I don’t now if it’s because of my bad English but it seams that there are missed some image, some text and some explanations…I really can’t understand how he did that or how can I do want I want.

Can some body explain it to me with easy words, please.

Excuse me if this is a dummy question.

Excuse me, I just discover that when you are logged in you can see things that you miss when you are not. Sorry for that. I‘m reviewing this issue again, but now in a logged way. Maybe now I can find the answer for my questions… :-[

I’m really happy with what I have done on one day….It took me a lot of time, but I’m almost ready thanks to all of you.
There are only a few things that I cant figure out how to do.
The most important now is how to change the grey color of the bottoms on the left to black or what ever…Can some body give me some light?
You can see what I mean here
Image
And here is the URL of the site I’m building

Hi, I'm a newbie myself and have just been doing this.

You need to go to the sections starting: "a.mainlevel:link, a.mainlevel:visited" in your template_css.css file.

Also play with "a.mainlevel:hover", "a.mainlevel#active_menu" and "a.mainlevel#active_menu:hover" to alter the different colours.

Just alter the different values after the "color:" entry.  Don't forget to to put a ; after the entry! (I did.)

A great site I found for color schemes, if you want them,  is http://www.colorschemer.com/online.html

Good luck.

Thank you very much for your answer and for the excellent URL that you give me. I have one question more. Maybe this is obviously but I really don’t understand
All color suppose to have six characters, but in the sections we are talking about they only have 3 characters…why is it? Should I leave them like they are or can I change them all, putting the 6 characters?
You can see here waht I mean...
Image

After a few minutes...
;)
I’m really happy now. I just put all the hexadecimal code of the color (some thing like this #700000) and it works very well.

Now I have what I expect will be my last question on this issue…I’m happy with the possibility to show a big image on the top (maybe I’ll make it a flash animation), but I would like to show on the right table the two objects that we lost on the top, I mean, the search box and the newsflash module.
What should I do?
