Thanks PVH ..for that explanation ..with due respect to the Joomla boards staff ..I think they may want to consider using "
the domains Top-Level" page instead of "
exact" ..to me my first thoughts of the use of "
exact" here brought to mind "
absolute (url)" ..which is a bit confusing.
I dont recall using any url other than
http://www.bzoo.org ..grant you I have also included (now) my poetry forums sub-domain, which is not going to change anytime soon and
not a tinyurl.
Also wouldnt it be just as easy and
courtesy gesture, just to take out that part of an url that leads to a page other than the top level page, like so,
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,65.0.html =
http://joomla.org/index.php/ I suppose the signature rule text is a copy and paste deal, but none the less it would be just as easy to adjust someones url rather than "
deface" a posters signature.
I, also, suppose this may be in light of spammers, then if a Joomla staff is going to take the energy to monitor signatures as such, wouldnt it make sense to make a judgement call as whether the link in question is meant to be spam or not. however, i would say a link like
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,65.0.html may have purpose. As my direct link to my poetry boards does.
We as citizens complain about cops as being
trigger happy, lets not take the wonder of the internet and become
trigger happy forum police. Two wrongs (defacing) dont make a right.
No criminal intent meant here, just a member offering positive feedback.
Thanks again.
