Hi all
I am an old developer and new to joomla.
I need to build a site that has a forum and a blog (that can be talked back) integrated in it.
By using phpBB and bblog for example I need to install 2 databases and manage 2 sets of users which is a very poor solution.
I am sure that this problem was encountered before in our community.
Can anyone post me a lead on that?
Thanks
Danny

Hi Danny,

Welcome to the Joomla! forums. This problem has been encountered many times indeed, you have two options. You can either installed a joomla native forum and blog component. I'm sure you will be able to find one on our extensions website, or you can installed external applications liks phpBB and bblog. In that case you will need to develop or rely on what we call a 'bridge'. For Joomla! 1.5 a bridge is bascailly nothing more then a set of plugins that allow user sessions and user data across the different applications. Joomla! 1.5 has a complete new plugin architecture that should allow you do this quite easily, it will offcourse also depend if the applications you are trying to bridge are suited for this.

Hope this helps to clarify,

Johan

Hi, I have a same problem.
I just wonder is Joomla 1.5 will be integrated with phpbb3 via by so called bridge.
I am not sure about how does the bridge thing work?
Is it full integration ? I mean user in Joomla can upload pictures posts news etc, at the same time write posts in the forum ?
It is simply a surface Integration ?

Thank you very much.
