As you probably know, we are currently involved in the Google Highly Open Participation Contest which is bringing teenagers to us to help with various tasks.

We created some tasks involving translation. With one exception they are all to translate four sections of the Installation Manual.

We would love to have some volunteers with skills in specific languages to act as mentors for the students. If you are willing, please just let me know or go over to the contest forum, which is at the bottom of the Other list.

So far we have: Arabic, Italian, Russian, Polish, Dutch, Ukranian. Also  I believe traditional Chinese, Thai, and Serbian will be added shortly.

If you know students who might want to do a translation (and make some money!) please encourage them to sign up. I can create as many translation tasks as we have students who want to do the work.

Also, if you have another translation task to suggest I'd be happy to add that to the list.

Thanks Jean-Marie,

I also want to point to this thread:

http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,239266.0.html

What I asked them to do is post a reply to this thread if they are looking for someone to help them. If you would like me to say something different, please let me know.

We now have a list of languages into which the Installation Guide is being translated. We welcome your involvement and invite you to review the list and help, if you are able, guide the student towards a successful task. Instructions on how to do so are in the thread.

Thank you!
Amy :)

GHOP contestants are working with Translation Working Group partners translating the Joomla! v 1.5 Installation Guide into these languages: Arabic, Brazilian Portuguese, Bulgaria, Catalan, Czech, Dutch, French, Hebrew, Polish, Serbian language in Latinic and Cyrillic, Spanish, Traditional Chinese, Turkish, and Ukrainian.

Google will allow us to open more tasks. Would anyone like to suggest a language that the Installation Guide should be translated into?

Are there languages we should not allow because the translation has already taken place?

Please let us know! We'd like to open new tasks before weekend, if at all possible.

Thanks very much,
Amy :)

Excellent Amy. Some great efforts are done in that contest  :)
