1. download joomlaboard component
2. log into your joomla site's admin, go to "installers/component"
3. browse to downloaded zip, hit the button to upload and install
4. components menu, select Joomlaboard / configuration => change settings as desired (title, mail etc)
5. in forum manager, add at least one first forum, and then a second one with this as parent.
the 1st (parent) one is like a section in joomla: you can't post in there.
the 2nd (child) forum acts as a category: this is where your content (posts/threads) will go

Go to http://developer.joomla.org and search for what you need there.

Simpleboard is made specifically for Joomla, so there isn't any special version needed.

If you got the error

Fatal error: Call to a member function getTagName() on a non-object in administrator/components/com_installer/installer.class.php on line 167

This link http://www.tsmf.net/component/option,com_simpleboard/Itemid,62/func,view/id,3078/catid,18/limit,6/limitstart,6/ will be helpful.

I have been looking for upgrade instructions. I want to upgrade my simpleboard to joomlaboard, all I have found so far is the install package for joomlaboard - If I just install it, how to I keep my existing posts in my forum??

Thanks
Rip

I'm sure you figured out how to do this sometime since February, but in case anyone ever comes across this thread again (as I did), here is a link to the upgrade instructions on TSMF's website:

http://www.tsmf.net/content/view/185/27/

Not a bad thing to be reminded of how to do considering the major security vulnerability recently uncovered in Simpleboard (but not present in Joomlaboard).
