menu appears with a specific category ?

Postby zedo24 on Wed Aug 31, 2005 2:46 pm

Hi everybody,

I'm creating some articles accessible from some links in a presentation page. All these articles will be in the same catégory. with that category, I don't wan't to let appear any menu but only a special one, appearing only with that category.
When we click on a menu item, that presentation page is displayed and only that special menu appears. But after, when I click on a link of the page, displaying an article of the category, no special meny appears anymore. The pathway only indicates "home" by the time.

How could I attach that special menu to all these articles or to the category?
Thanks for any help.

Hi zedo24, I haven't played with this feature for a while, but try this out. I think you can associate a menu with a particular menu item from another menu.

If, for example, you have the following menus in Menu Manager:

Menu 1
- Item A
- Item B
- Item C

Menu 2
- Item D
- Item E
- Item F

you can make Menu 2 appear whenever Item A is clicked. To do that, you have to go to Modules, and look for Menu 2. Then select Item A on the right (under Pages/Items).

Let me know if it works.

Thanks chette,

I had done this and menu 2 appears when item A is clicked. But the problem is that, when I'm clicking on a link (to an article) in the page where menu 2 appears, no more menu 2 appears with that article.

Any help?

Is it possible that the menu is below the content? That has happened to me when the content is too wide.

No, menu 2 isn't below the content. I think we should look with the pathway that only indicates "home" and no article name, no category, no ...

I still need some help
Thanks

http://www.mirandola.fr/index.php
When you on "Blog" in the e-learning menu to the right, a sub-menu comes down. Then, you click on "listes de blogs" which open a new window. In that new window, you'll only see a left menu called "exploitation" and you have some links to some articlesY on the page. This left menu has some internal links available for each articlesY but it has no mean on that page list of blogs. So, when you'll click on a link in that page "listes des blogs", a new page appears but the left menu isn't there anymore.

How could I make it to appear.
Thank for all your help chette

Ah so I'm guessing you want to have "EXPLOITATION" visible even if you click Listes de Blogs.

Did you check if the Exploitation module is set to view to All Pages/Items?

No, I want to have "exploitation" visible when I click on "listes des blogs", which dispaly a category, AND when I click (on 'liste des blogs' page) any link showing an article of that category.
??? Isn't it possible to make a menu visible only for one category?

Hi,

I've been having the same problem for about a week now, and not really getting anywhere on solving it.

I've posted a description of the problem, some screenshots and links on this thread

http://forum.opensourcematters.org/index.php/topic,3862.0.html

Thought it might help to see another example, and in case the answer shows up over there first instead.  I'm pretty sure I've got the menu control and linking stuff figured out, and that all seems to be working ok, but I'm having the same trouble getting not only the menus but other modules that should appear on specific content items to appear.

Thanks and I'll subscribe to this thread as well in case the answer shows up here first.
