Well the fish is still working okay, but the patch files for the Joomla version aren't out yet so nothing is being translated on the frontend. I am awaiting eagerly the release of the patch files.

I am having the same problems... So before upgrading/converting we have to wait for a mambelfish patch?
Any ideas when it is planned?

I wouldn't know, the only person who knows is Alex Kempkens, the developer of the fish.

What you could do (as I am lacking the time at the moment) is compare the files in the patch for 4.5.2.3 against the files from the core file. See what is changed and where, andthen find the locations in the J! 1.0 files. It is tedious work but ist's doable.

I'm afraid that is not the only error. When I do things in the administration, the mambelfish acts weird. If I change anything in the setup I get a similar error, but if I want to add or edit translations, nothing show up for a selected text and despite saving a translation, nothing happens. There are probably quite some issues with mambelfish or I have done something completely wrong.

My upgrade/conversion was done over a backup from a live site - I copied over the files of Joomla!, changed the configuration.php details and switched the global file to the off option. If I unpublish the mambelfish module, then the frontend works.

Hi guys,
my private site runs now on Joomla and Mambelfish enabled!. It works nice.  ;)
I modded two files in the Joomla root and attached those.

Have tried it at once. It really works.  :)

But... have you tried to save settings in the mambelfish component or edit or add a new translation? Does that work for you?

Hi,

@ aljaz, you might be having an issue with another bug. This is related to mambelfish running on php 4.4.0

Check out http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,6272.0.html

Took a look at the component it seems that there were mambo-core files patched at installation-time....
But with the above patch it works now!

With Mamblefish (soon to be Joomsfish) you need to be minful that it needs to hack core files to operate.

Alex has worked to include more hooks into the core so that hoefully with 1.0 and Joomfish, you will no longer need to hack and its all installable (at least I believe this has been achieved).

Wiuth that it mind, you hav to be aware, that with every upgrade, you have to rehack the core.

Uploaded it another time as requested.
Keep in mind these are the Joomla! replacements of the index.php and index2.php files as formerly supplied by Mambelfish for 4.5.2 and as soon as Alex (akede) comes off with Joomfish you may need to revert these files to the Joomla originals.
In the mean time your Mambelfish will work.
I hope to welcome Joomfish soon.

Hi there !

I have done something similar to walb patch to make MFish and Joomla work together, by manually patching index.php and index2.php. Fish seems to be working fine, I could change some translated text, etc
Out of curisosity I downloaded walb patch files to compare to what I had done. In index.php, there is a difference :
walb has added the 2 lines which are remed out below :
if( $mosConfig_mbf_content ) {
$database = new mlDatabase( $mosConfig_host, $mosConfig_user, $mosConfig_password, $mosConfig_db, $mosConfig_dbprefix );
} else {
$database = new database( $mosConfig_host, $mosConfig_user, $mosConfig_password, $mosConfig_db, $mosConfig_dbprefix );
}
// $database->debug( $mosConfig_debug );          /// this line::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
// $acl = new gacl_api();                                      /// and this other line ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
if ($mosConfig_mbf_content) {
$mosConfig_defaultLang = $mosConfig_lang; // Save the default language of the site
$iso_client_lang = MambelFish::discoverLanguage( $database );
$_MAMBELFISH_MANAGER = new MambelFishManager();
}

I did not copied them from Mambo 4.5.2.3 to Joomla 1.0 because I thought they were not related to Mambelfish, but rather Mambo regular code.  I did checked that they come from 4.5.2.3 original index.php. As a matter of fact they are nowhere to be found in Joomla 1.0 index.php.
I tried adding or removing them from my current Joomla 1.0 test machine, and this has no visible immediate effect, including on Mambelfish. However, I am not using any function related to access control, which gacl_api() probably relates to.

I find this strange. Should or should not these 2 lines be part of Joomla index.php ?

Yes, it works, but it's not updated with Joomla 1.0.4.

Here is the patch for Joomla 1.0.4

So in conclusion, download and install the mambel fish 1.5 files, components, modules and bot. Then replace the mod_poll.php and pathway files included in mambel fish distribution, finally replace index.php and index2.php with the joomla 1.04 files provided above in this post, and that's it.

Am I allright?

Hi,

define: "it worked without errors".

Did you publish it with some translated contents somewhere?

Thankyou

Hi

I installed mbf-joomla.zip  and the traslation work fine.  But when a user try modify any post, he can not.  The system say:  Item succesfully saved., but that is not true.

I updated to joomla 1.0.4 from mambo 4.5.3,  and I use PHP 4.4

Thank!...
