Hi,

The one thing that I notice is the id of the category in your blog link (the id is 0)

http://www.cycloongroep.nl/index.php?op ... &Itemid=82

That tells me that the blog is a MULTIPLE category blog

Just done some testing on my site and it seems that joomla has trouble grabbing the Itemid of a multiple category blog and instead will look for another menu item which the content may belong too (e.g. a single category blog or a section listing etc. ) and seems to rather have NO Itemid than the Itemid of a multiple category blog

We will have to investigate why this is.

As a work around, you could probably do another menu or menus (of single categories or section) for those categories (these could be hidden by adding them to a menu for which the associated menu module is not published)

hopefully then the readmore link will pick up an Itemid and from that a pathway.

Your right sorry forgot to mention this. The menu item created is a “blog - content category” where categories (year of events) are selected from a section (activiteiten)

I can confirm your workaround. I have created a “blog - content section” under the unpublished “Other menu” Using the Section activiteiten.  Now the ID Is picked up. The pathway jumps then to the new created menu “Activiteiten” from the “Other Menu”.

I could just replace the whole menu item Activiteiten to a “Blog – section category” then we do not have to add a category at the start of a new year.  Wondering if there are downsides from a point of search engines since many item urls will change. Any down sides?

Fixed in 1.0.10 SVN

As it happens the core actually never parsed 'Global' Blog Categories (Blog Cats with a componentid of 0), its only know that this has been accurately reported and identified, despite the fact that 'Global' Blog Categories were introduced in Mambo 4.5.2.x

I am having trouble similar to this, only the ItemID is not missing from the "read more" links. Rather, the ItemID is inherited from the blog section instead of using the ItemIDs assigned in the menu.

Any suggestions?

rmd,

did you ever come up with a solution?

All of the links and menu items on my site seem to work with the exception of the "read more" link on the frontpage.  It doesn't matter what content item I am displaying on the frontpage.... all of the "read more" link paths are missing &ItemID values that would allow them to work.  All of the links return:

You are not authorized to view this resource.
You need to login.

I just spent a lot of time looking through the forum and trying different things... such as emptying the trash, making sure all of my permissions are set correctly... making sure I had a menu item (and not conflicting multiple ones) for each bit of content on the frontpage... even looking through the code (I am not brave enough to start tinkering).  Your post is the closest I have come to echoing my own problem although I think it still isn't the same since no ItemID is displayed at all whereas I think you are saying you get an ItemID, it is just the incorrect one.

o yea - Joomla! 1.0.10 Stable

Any Ideas?

Regards,
Bobo.

Bobo, I did not get find a solution. This was the answer I got on another thread: http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,80603.0.html

In my research, I do remember instances of the missing itemid, but I don't remember what the solutions were because that was not my issue.

Sorry I can't be more help!

I seem to have found a poor solution to temporarily fix the 'read more' = missing pathway problem.. i

This is how i got around the issue:

1)create a new menu (to be kept unpublished)
2)create a new menu item within the newly created menu - > Blog Content Category and give it a proper name (b/c it will be displayed within the pathway upon clicking the read more links off the front page)
3)select the categories that contain articles that are shared with the frontpage manager.. For me i had 3 categories where about 4 articles were published to the front page.. So i ctrl clicked ob all the sections that happened to have published frontpage articles.

this seems to work for me but its quite a sloppy solution.. when you click the Read More links on any fontpage article the pathway follows right through your newly created menu -> menu item.

then if you click on the pathway link that is following through your newly created menu item, it will link to the Blog Content Category item created in step 2.. so make sure you set up this menu item so it has some sort of consistency with the rest of your site..

goodluck.. hopefully this will work for you to

I missed the Itemid part from the "Read more..." link on the front page. Messed around quite a bit until I finally upgraded from 1.0.11 to 1.0.12.

The upgrade saved my day.
