Hi

My customer shall be enabled to edit the content of his website by mambo/joomla.
The thing is, that on every page there are 3 styled locations (div-tags) with text to edit.
I can put the mainbody-part into one of these locations and make it accessible trough content.
But what about the 2 other locations? I can put modules in there and give some output. But how to make it editable without admin-rights?

Karim

Anybody who can help me?
Since starting with joomla I was positively surprised by the help in this forum, great! The best thing about this CMS is it's community!  :D
Not like typo3...  ???

Anyway, on this question there seems to be no help  :( Is it simply not possible or didn't I express myself clearly?

All the designs using Mambo/Joomla I see, are of the same structure (2 or 3 columns). What if I want to display content in a center column, in the left column, and for ex. in the bottom? Of course this content should be editable by the manager of the site.

EDIT: The site I'm working on: http://robertundjosiane.ch/index.php?sn=showergel
So how to get it done? There are 2 boxes with content to be made accessible to the customer.

Any help? :-\

Karim

Hey Karim,

I had a similar Problem and wrote a very small module to display a content item with a given Id (you enter an id in the modules parameter tab and the content item shows up in the assigned module position). The module was written for Mambo 4.5.2 but should work with Joomla. if you think this will solve your Problem I'll send you the code.

Here it is. I'm using this in production sites so I'm quite certain it will work for you, too (but please drop a note if any errors show up).

I use the XAMPP Package with MySQL 5.0.18 as developement server and it works fine.

You shouldn't use the files attached to the forum anymore but instead go to the joomla forge:
http://forge.joomla.org/sf/go/proj1967

I'm currently re-writing the thing to make it a real module instead of a somewhat crude hack (and to fix a number of bugs), so you may want to want to wait a couple of days before you use it in production sites.

see also this discussion: http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,36326.30.html

Hi eike,
this module don't work in my local joomla!
I use the WAMP Package for Windows with MySQL 5.0.17, PHP 5.1.1, Apache/2.0.55 (Win32)

The error:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in C:\wamp\www\J107\modules\mod_contentitem.php on line 126

This error already it occurred in others components/modules and the occasion the error occurred because it did not have has support to PHP5.
