Go to the root images folder and look for the Joomla_logo_black.png files, or any files that are Joomla_logo_whatever.  All the header images are in the root images folder.  You will have to edit the image files, or upload your own image that is the same size and rename it Joomla_logo_whatever, or go into the template and redirect the image link to your own image name.  I think the header image in the default template is a background file, so it may even be in the CSS.

Hi John, I just installed and was thinking the same thought.  The "Template" feature works so well, I just imported a half dozen new templates and went from there. Much easier to edit then in HTML or whatever.  Just a thought.

Now that I am thinking about it, since you said "OpenSourceMatters," you must be talking about the banner under the large Joomla Header image.  Go into your banner manager, and unpublish the banners there.  That should take care of the problem.

Still not sure how to change the simplest of things... top left - huge - is a Joomla logo with "...because opensource matters" underneath on a fishscale black background...
That's the main logo - for a sample Joomla site, but obviously I want my own logo there... how do I find it?

So the banner for the main template you are trying to replace.  It is located here:

public_html/templates/rhuk_solarflare_ii/images/header_short.jpg

'public_html' will be the root folder for your Joomla installation.

It is a background image for the template.  Just replace it with an image that is the same size and named the same.
