Is the installation folder/files necessary with the patch package?

The upgrade link 1.0.1 to 1.0.2 Patch Package here (http://www.joomla.org/content/view/274/52/) seems not to be working, and I don't see this particular patch on sourceforge?  I suppose the 1.0.0 to 1.0.2 Patch also would work?

Thanks!

Thanks to all the team for this new release. A big work has been done to correct all the bugs and make Joomla stable, in a real short time.

Now that I've upped to 102... I've a question.

If I can use the Components / Modules installers to install a component or mosule from a .zip file, why can't I do the same with upgrades? Why do I have to upload every file separately as a patch, or replace eveything?

Or does this exist, and I've just missed it??

Cheers,
Gary

That would be truly useful!

By the way, have you guys submitted this version to makers of Fantastico yet?
I do intsalls for clients, but would be great if they could start using the Fantastico script installer soon.

Cheers,

- Vince

Would it be possible to provide a component-oriented summary of changes with an update, so one can quickly see which parts have been touched? It's nice to have a changelog, but it does not really help the way it is.

Well,you don't have to update ;)

This is the great part off open source software: bugs and security holes are fixed fast.
There are some closed source software products where bugs and security holes stay unfixed for more than 2 years if they are fixed at all.

Regular updates create a little work to be done but it will keep your site in the best shape it can be.

???

Don't get me wrong, but comments like that really trouble me... No one is forcing you to update, or is there? It is stated quite clearly that even v1.0.0 does NOT contain any critical or security related bugs so if you don't have any problems with your site/s you really don't have to update. In fact maybe you shouldn't. Never stop a running system...?

I mean, are you really complaining about the dev team working very hard to get as many bugfixes out to us as soon as possible?? There are countless people making new Joomla installations every day for new projects and some/most of them won't get updated again very soon or at all for numerous reasons. I think it is very nice to know that almost every yet discovered bug has been already fixed and my client gets the most up to date version.

Do you really prefer the other way? To discover a bug (or worse, get informed by a client of its existence) that really hinders your work flow in some way, then you go desperately search the forums for a solution and you only get the response "yeah, it is a known bug, nothing you can do about it now but will be fixed in the next release."?? Trust me this happened to me quite often and it sucks! Especially when the next release is not coming for weeks and weeks...

So, to allmagica: if you're to lazy to update every week - just don't. No problem there. Just wait until an update contains something you really need or want and do it then.

To the dev team: Please continue to bring us as many patches and updates as fast as possible!! And big thx for all the time and hard work.

-

"And now to something completely different:" ;)

Wasn't it a bit risky to 'patch' the templates? I can imagine that lots of users only modified the default template to their liking and now that their css-file, the index.php and maybe even the header image have been overwritten, they discover they don't have a backup... Of course for the full package this is not a problem, but for the patches?

Anyway,  great work dev team!

Nic

hi guys,
can somebody please check to see if they are getting this bugs after running the patch from 1.0.1 to 1.02?

so far i have experienced these new issues after the patch, and just want to find out if its just me or if its really a bug.

1) cannot publish and content to front page unless it is in the News Section

2) When create a new Static Content item, the link to menu only shows me possibility to link to 'User Menu'

thanks!

JB

Hi JB,

Maybe you can have a look on http://demo.joomla.org ? This has been upgraded as well from 1.0.1. to 1.0.2.

Did check issue 2 on there myself, when I create a new Static Content item, and check the Link to Menu tab, all menus are available. Maybe you can check the frontpage content submission there yourself, to do a first comparisson.

Hi JB,

If the "bugs" are persistent, please report back here if you want. Any info is welcome.

I dont think that demo has been updated its still showing Joomla 1.0.1 in the System Info. plus the solar flare template also has not been updated that i.e if the demo has been updated to 1.0.2

Oh boy, I didnt mean to offend anyone with what I wrote, it was rather written in jest and in a hurry. Of course its great that there are often updates and bug fixes. Its also great that there are so many people here who develop the software. My relation to computers is purely an amateur and hobby one. Thats why I am happy if I can get an installation working and double happy when I able to install a patch successfully... if you know what I mean.  :-[
