How about Sirocco (or Siroco, in spanish)?
This wind is blowing away bad influences, evil spirits, leaving here a healthy community with good feelings about the future of our favorite cms.

Re: Poll for the new CMS name
I think we need to consider the availability of domain names when considering the option.
We don't want to identify the perfect name and then confuse everyone with a complicated URL.
Maybe the answer is to indentify a list of 10 names, secure a good URL and take a vote.
Just my 2p
Regards

That would a very hard job... finding a domainname that isn't claimed yet.click2 wrote: I think we need to consider the availability of domain names when considering the option.

What about 'HarmonyCMS' or 'Project Harmony'
As everyone who has come to this site believe in what the DEVs have chosen, we stand by them, and progress with them in harmony. I don't know... It sounds good in my head.
Definition:
Agreement in feeling or opinion; accord: live in harmony.
I feel we'll progress as one... as a community

Re: Poll for the new CMS name
mejean beat me to this one, sort of:
Step
-or-
FreeStep
"Free" as in "freedom", "step" as in using your feet.
You can think of it in relation to dancing, if you want. Even if you don't, it conveys movement and progress. Plus both suggestions are short, easy to remember and pronounce, and don't mean anything odd in any language that I know. We can "step together" and show solidarity as a community.
If nobody objects, I'd like to put the naming issue to a branding agency as a pro bono job. If we can get a good one to work on the name, the project could potentially get a great deal of publicity.

Re: Poll for the new CMS name
I like the name "Freed" but I'd also like to throw in my 2 cents for "Archetype" as the new CMS name. To me that's what The-CMS-With-No-Name should (and will) be, the archetypal CMS that everyone wants to emulate

Re: Poll for the new CMS name
The name's very important, & should reflect our being the people of many communities, united.
!La Gente! OS
(But this old gringo can't make the appropriate upside down exclamation mark for this post.)

I had the same idea, Mamba would be nice...schiwo wrote: Hi,
what do you think about Mamba and a Snake logo. the community bites.
From Wikipedia:
Mambas, of the genus Dendroaspis, are tree dwelling extremely rapidly moving snakes of Africa. ("Dendroaspis" is literally "tree snake".) They are highly venomous, their venom containing neurotoxins, which can be fatal to humans without access to proper first aid and subsequent antivenom treatment.
A fast snake with a dangerous poison... maybe Miro will learn that opensource communities can bite...

OpenMamba - .cnobi o.k.
MambaCMS .cnobi o.k.
OpenTango - .com not free
Tango CMS - .cnobi o.k.
Names are quite close to Mambo, but different enough for trademark issues.
Why not use ***Mambo*** (something with Mambo inside, e.g. insideMambo) and registering that from e.g. Germany? I think there is no trademark problem....
And in Germany you could create a "e.V.", something like a certified community with no money purposes.
Just ask Alex Kempkens, I think he should know more about that.
Best regards, Markus

I'd like to stick my vote in for Foxtrot, as in the dance that Charlie does when things go south...

Not bad! Actually esperanto means "One who is hopeful" Very suitable for both the CMS and the user

Be original... There are so many projects with open, cms and free in it. "Our" cms has to stand out because it's one of the finest in the world and not another cms.

Re: Poll for the new CMS name
Well - my 2 cents
Don't have a good suggestion for a name, but I like the sound of beeing a mamber, a person using $ambo - so I hope the new name will be just as good for naming the users as naming the product.
Hense, I not to fond of names link "Fork" - I wouldn't call myself a "Forker" and be proud of it
well year - you get the idea...
