Which companies are willing to support m*mbo in the recent struggle?
Apart from the legal issues, Miro (I think) was paying a lot of monthly bills for m*mbo.
So which companies will pay these bills now?

Let me start by saying,
Our company doesn't mind helping the dev-team with any hosting related issues (servers, domains, whatever).

Please empty out your attic and have a booth sale like you did for the Tsunami :P

Interesting point.  I did't know that Miro was paying for all the bandwidth and hosting.  What exactly did they pay for?

I'm willing to help out with graphics and design if there's any need for that.

They were paying for hosting, bandwidth, domains, etc.

I don't think there's a problem to find a sponsor for those things.

Gotcha on what Miro paid for.  Any idea of the costs associated with these items?  I think if some Mamb* consulting firms could get some advertising in exchange for paying for these services, we could probably get the money we need to make this happen on our own.  Or, even better, some nice group could just donate bandwidth and server space! =)

on the mamb* foundation site they say Miro was paying $200,000 a year in mamb* related fees. I don't know if thats true or not but thats what it says.  Yeah I own a small company I'd be willing to help out where needed...  after all it is important for businesses to be involved in their community.  ;D

in Miro opinion running the Mambo project costs around $200,000.00 each year. (http://mambo-foundation.org/content/view/28/46/). It's right or it's a little over-estimated ?

I beleive this numbers are way too mush, unless Miro are counting the money spent to pay for their own emplyees.

I think the best way to approach this is to create a foundation similar to what Miro was trying to do but with the commuinty behind it and not a commercial entity.

The current OpenSourceMatters website is hosted on one of our Dual Opteron RAID 5 servers. It is the only website on the server, as the site already has too much traffic for a shared machine. This setup is working well so far, because Brad Baker who works for us is also a member of the Mambo team, so it makes liaising etc. pretty simple.

I think Andrew, Brad and the rest of the team will come to a long-term solution within the next week or so once everything has settled down. We are happy to help the team in anyway we can. We are happy to pick up the server and bandwidth costs which Miro previously paid for, if the team wants us to continue helping in that respect.

There are many ways in which everyone can support the team and I think every little contribution helps in the effort to get the project back on track. It is going to take a while and a lot of work until everything has settled down and is back on track under the new project.

I can’t say for certain, but the $200,000 mentioned on the Mambo Foundation website does seem a bit dubious to me. I thought that when I initially read it earlier today.

Simply joining the new forums and expressing your support helps the cause… :)

Maybe they are including the cost of running MamboForge in that too.

In the explaination of those fees Peter did mention 100's of hours of work maintaining everything, so most of that $200k was probably included in that.
