Re: Amharic for Joomla
What you need is simply to modify the header of the template
of your page so that it is not using the iso-8859-1 charset but UTF-8
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
Additionally you will need to modify the stylesheets (css) of your template
so that Amharic font is used.
You may also want to use font embedding so that people without
Amharic font installed on their computers can still read the Amharic text.

Re: Amharic for Joomla
ok gather up as many people as you can and then join the project called Yosias Selemon (for now, it should/will be changed to Amharic Joomla)
thank you for your time.
[correction]
Please join AmharicJoomla on google groups instead of the project on Joomla.
Thanks!

Hi fishwond!
Thanks so much. We will instead use google group. It is called AmharicJoomla. Please convery our appreciation for the volunteers! Ask them to request to join the group via the UI.
Looking good! Seems like we are getting some momentum here. Please tell others to have a utf-8 capable editor. Notepad++ is useful in this case. I use the home edition version (free) of Tavultesoft Keyman keyboard.
Thanks

Re: Amharic for Joomla
Hello there
We have started a new Amharic Joomla team. I would suggest the following
1. Downlaod and install Notepad++ with UTF-8 and DOM enabled to edit ini
files
2. Download and install a utf08 capable editor such as Keyman from
Tavultesoft
3. Create a translation group in google group where you can discuss
translation and invite others you know to join your group and to translate.
Divide up the work between the group. Many want to help but few have the
time. I suggest you start translating on your own, that is what I did for
the Amharic
4. Install latest Joomla and start translating all ini files
Enjoy
Let me know if you need further help

good thing to hear! how is it going so far? it would be good if we could collaborate since the geez fonts are pretty much the same except for few differences? What do you think.
