Search modle - compatibility with language specific letters

Post by pajonkhfat » Sun Aug 12, 2007 10:13 am

I found that strage issue. All my polish signs (¶æñ± etc.) works perfectly on whole site but the search module.
If I'm going to search ¶æñ¼±ó string, search modle converts it to Å_Ä_Å_źÄ_ó and try to find exactly that symbols (unsucessfully of course).
Have you ever found that issue? My site is: .

Quite the same issue I have with title aliases, but it just cut off the "different" signs i.e. title "¦wie¿o¶æ" is converted to alias "wieo"  ???

Only way to get the search module to work correctly on Joomla contents is to enter text as raw instead of htmlentities.
This is a parameter which is available using JCE editor for example.

Title aliases may be another story. Is your database fully utf8?
See this post for full explanation on using Joomla 1.0.x series in utf8:

Sorry, I should typed that on the begining. I'm using v1.5 and your tips AFAIU applies to 1.0.13.
My MySQL connection collation: utf8_unicode_ci
Tables are: utf8_general_ci

My second thought is that search module works this way no matter if there is a content or not.
I put the polish ¶æñ¼¿ letters in search box, hit search, and those are suddenly converted and displayed in search box as - Å_Ä_Å_źż, and below I have "Total 0 results found. Search for Å_Ä_Å_źż"
my url becomes "...searchword=%C5_%C4_%C5_%C5%BA%C5%BC..."
