J!Package and translations.

Post by ibnhafsun » Fri Aug 17, 2007 8:41 am

I´ve seen the good news about J!Package. It sounds promising and I am sure you are taking in mind that there are language dependencies too (ie. retrieve extensions available in ab_cd language or show if there is a translation available).

If not, consider it please.

Hi ibnhafsun,

Fully agree. This J!Package sounds very promising http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/jpackage/wiki/
Its quite new to me, but my understanding is that language dependencies are taken in mind already.
Think you will be able to define a language plugin dependency for lang A relating to component B, just like modules and plugins.

Well, dependecies are an example.

A "languages" tag in the XML file would do the job better. ie:

But it would be even better if it checks the plugin language directory and retrieves the xml files information. Then, at stage 5, the user interface could show the available updates and, if there is a translation on your language, a flag.
