1.0.x >>> 1.1 How to make the move ?

Post by Mohammed » Sat Jan 14, 2006 10:57 am

Hello all !

I'm about to set up a new site powered by joomla 1.0.6 ! and I'm confused a bit about how to make the move when joomla 1.1 is out ...
so please tell me how to setup the database in order to move to joomla 1.1 with no problems.
The site will be in arabic .

Thanks

Whatever the encoding that you choose for your database in 1.0.6 (utf-8 I presume), this will be taken care of when 1.1 is out.
This will be done in two steps:
Install a brand new 1.1
Upgrade and install your exisitng database.
The database will be at that time correclty re-encoded, including full utf-8 collations, and fields changed accordingly to multibyte.

I would not worry about it. The process will be very easy.
