Spell checking

Post by Béèm » Wed May 30, 2007 8:56 am

I am new to Joomla/Joomfish, so forgive me if I am not in the correct forum.

I am translating from French to English with Joomfish, so I have on top the French text and beneath the editor for the to be translated text.

Unless I missed something, I don't see a spell check or grammar check possibility.

Isn't there a possibility?
If no, it would be nice to have this possibility.

BTW, I use SeaMonkey 1.1.1 which has some spell check possibilities, but it doesn't seem to act on the editor window in which I type the translated text.

The new JCE 1.1 has spell checking possibility's, so has also Firefox 2.0 - and both works great. ;)

BTW: This is not a translating/Joom!Fish issue, but at Text Editor or Browser issue.

Thank you for your quick replay.
I started my post by apologizing I didn't know where to put the question, now I know.

Can this thread be transfered to Text Editor or Browser by a moderator or should I start a new thread there?

Is there anything else you wonder about this matter, feel free to ask here - continue this post. ;)

For the moment no.
I'll see with the super administrator of the site in translation at what level the JCE is.
If it is 1.1 I'll post in the Browser and Editor forum to see, why there is no spell checking.

When typing here with SeaMonkey, wrong spelling is detected while typing, maybe an indication that JCE our super administrator uses isn't 1.1

Thank you for your time.

IE's built in spell checker seems to work fine - why bother with more plugins?

I saw the comment about IE's built-in spell checker. I can't find it to use it. In the IE help, I searched for "spell", etc. and found no reference to a built-in spell checker. We use IE7 on Windows XP PRO.

If someone could set me straight ont that it would be greatly appreciated.
