Luxembourgish Translation

Hi there,

I am running a site in Luxembourg for young people (scouts, http://jungle.p-dw.com) and I would translate the page into Luxembourgish.

- How can I initialize a new language?
- What steps do I have to take?
- What tools do you recommend? (Text editor or is there something more specific?)
- I want it to be published under the GPL (what's to be put in the headers?)

I hope that I'm in the right forum :)

Moiën! Welcome on Joomla! forums.
Yep, this is the right forum.

Et deet mer leed, mä ech schwätzen nët Lëtzeburgesch.

For Joomla version 1.0.8+ it is quite simple.
Just copy the English.php, English.ignore.php and english.xml files which are in the language folder at the root of the site.
Change the names accordingly and translate the strings to Luxembourgish with any editor which accepts the diacritical latin characters. Keep the ISO setting to ISO-8559-1.

Most translators just keep the header as is. You may add your name though and site if you like.

For the to-come version 1.5 it is a bit more complex as there are many more files and all has to be saved as utf-8.

Once you finished, you may want to propose it to all Joomla users by starting a project on Forge.

Post any further question here and we'll try to help.

Villmols merci (Thank you very much)  :D

I'll begin with the translation right now.

I also have other modules and components installed (smf, akobook, events,...) are there translation teams as well, for each component respectively, or is this also the forum for all translations?
