Managing Translations for dynamic content from database..

Post by Abhi_novice » Fri May 20, 2011 8:49 am

Hi All,

I've created some custom modules of my own to display content. Actually, I'm implementing a comment box, where user will be able to post comments and view his comments, I have my own module and database backend created to take care of the same and which is working perfectly.

However, I would like to provide the translation functionality to the users, so that at their discretion they can translate the contents from English to Brazilian Portuguese and vice-versa.

Can anyone provide some insights as to how should I proceed?

Regards,
Abhijit.

Hi All,

If anyone comes up looking for this, I found a solution.

http://ordasoft.com/Download/View-docum ... oomla.html

This component and the subsequent module uses Google Translation APIs to translate a complete page textually into any language supported by these APIs.

cheers.
Abhijit.

That's a sweet solution! I only wish the quality of the translations via Google API was better... a bit frustrating.

I have been researching on how to import a website from Wordpress to the Joomla platform. I notice that the comments box is not included by default. If I am able to port over my old comments and use this Comment box module, would it continue to properly append on new comments visitors make? I would like to have it enabled on certain iPad pages as well at my wordpress theme website. (ex. disable it on the home page, but have the posts enabled).

Thanks,
Jason

Is it possible to use a different api then the Google translation api? The quality is a bit messy
