How and where enter the translation

Post by petrosal » Wed Aug 28, 2013 8:02 pm

I Know that but there are many ini files in the joomla! language folder. How and where should I enter the translation language? That is what I need to know. Many thanks.

First you need at least the language installed (admin and front end preferrably)
If done so you will spot the xx-XX folders and the ini files inside.. You will notice en-GB has more. This due cos all extensions at least come in english...

Pick the one ini file you need in your language open in your favourite editor and start by changing all en-GB in whatever code you need.
After that start changing the strings... save in the folder of your language and your done..

Don't forget to send a copy to the maker of the extension... he will be glad to have another language to add to his pack..

hi waarnemer
Where can I add the string Name* in order to be translated? I tried creating a file in the languages folder entitled it-it.com_jumi.ini and entered Name*=Nome inside of this file but it didn't work...
thank you.

I forgot.. you have to add the file in your extensions manifest file. You may read this for starters.. it is a pretty good explanation: http://docs.joomla.org/Specification_of_language_files

The next link is for core translations but still very helpful± http://docs.joomla.org/Making_a_Languag ... Joomla_1.6
