Translations to Spanish

Post by truly » Sat Sep 28, 2013 4:44 am

Hello,

I would like to contribute to the translation of the wiki docs into Spanish (Latin American). From what I have read, I understand I can create and host a parallel wiki with the translations provided that I comply with the JEDL and the policy, is that correct?

I'm a certified Spanish translator, I love Joomla and have been developing sites since long ago, and I know that translating is a great way to learn all there is to it and I also get to contribute to the community and the project.

I have already visited the Spanish translation team site, but there doesn't seem to be much activity there lately, except for the translated packs, not much about recent documentation, at least not that I have found.

Please, let me know if this is a valid way to proceed and thank you very much for your help and time.

Thank you for your offer to help out in the Joomla community!

There's a Spanish version of the Joomla Community Magazine: http://magazine.joomla.org/es/

I don't know about any other language versions of http://docs.joomla.org/ but I'll ask around...

Thanks to you both!

I will definitely take a look at the magazine, I know well the English one, but for some reason, I hadn't seen the Spanish one.

As for the link given by filim, I'm really more inclined to helping with the documentation since packs are already very well translated.

So let me know if you hear anything about how to contribute to the documentation translations.
Thanks again.

Hi truly

Thanks for your willing to contribute!

The wiki is currently in a process of being completely revised and reorganized in its (main) English version by the documentation team. As soon as that's been done, some extra plugins will be installed to provide multilingual support, and once that's done it will be ready for supporting multiple languages properly.

I suggest you keep an eye at spanish magazine version, as well as to the spanish forum here ( http://forum.joomla.org/viewforum.php?f=24 ), as a call for volunteers will be posted for sure once the wiki is ready for multiple langs.

Thanks!

Thank you!

Good to know that.

I will surely keep an eye on the magazine. I already subscribed.

In the meantime I might translate something here and there just for the fun of it and to learn more.

As soon as you get organized to translate officially, I would love to help. I'll keep heads up!

Thanks again for responding.
Truly
