Hello, I got Mambelfish working for my Spanish translations pretty much ok with a lot of help from this thread, thank you all. However I cannot seem to get it to affect the "Archives" mod , nor the date on my template (247Portal).

I also have Joomla bridged with SMF and it's kind of weird to me, but when I change the language in SMF, the "Archive" months and the date on the template also change. Can anyone point me in the right direction to get Mambelfish and not SMF to change the dates? Would greatly appreciate it.

Hmm, I can see Mamble Fish on the front and it will switch between English and Japanese (language pack items) but when I try to translate content the in the backend I cannot see the original text and the translation cannot be saved.

@paolus: Does you "multi lingual content searchbot" config look something like the attached image?

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Sorry if I am joining the wrong forum but I am not quite sure where to ask.  Is it possible to automatically change the template when you change language?

Thanks for your help

Your last posting first.
If you pump up your PHP reporting level to maximum you might find a notice
Notice: Undefined variable: hrefVars
If so, the solution can be found here http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic ... #msg168082

About that image.
You mean a small image in front or at the end of the menu item?
If so at can be done,  but not very much recommended by me. That image is specified by a parameter in the menu item.
If you extend the contentelement menu.xml with a field params you have control over all of its parameters.
However you will increase the effort of maintenance of your menu items sincerely since you need to keep them in sync with the original and might lead to confusing siuations.
It works though, but I would recommend to use another image e.g. exclamation mark  or at least some sort of symbol that is not language dependent.

I changed line 71 to this:
Code:
      if( isset($GLOBALS['mbf_dir']) && ($GLOBALS['mbf_dir'] == 'vertical' || $mambelFishManager->getCfg( 'frontendMode' ) == 'vlist' || $mambelFishManager->getCfg( 'frontendMode' ) == 'vimage' )){

now there is no NOTICE but the same problem still occurs...

Can you use a horizontal or vertical list for the time being.  I'll get this fixed in the next few days and modify the version attached to the start of this topic.

Is there any DIR tag inserted to FISH?
Hebrew uses a RTL direction, which need to be manually inserted...

Are you saying you can translate other content types from the frontend and not bookmarks or non-at all?  You are making sure the translation is published (which must be done the first time in the backend)?

Dear Community,

I'm sorry but currently Bookmarks is not using JoomlaFish... :'(
I will try in a later version to implement the support as it will be available (by the default) in Joomla v1.1...
So now I have no excuse to not add it to Bookmarks...

But some patience is required, I do not have a lot of time to work on new Bookmakrs version...  :-[

Hmm. This is wishful thinking!
J! 1.1. is being prepared for UTF-8 an RTL and it may give some problems. This is a big leap for J!.
I've seen already nice but no perfect examples. Just wait and see. ;)
I've no idea how MBF keeps pace, but since Akede is belonging to the core team, it gives me hope.  :-\

@walb:
I didn't said there is any problem with it.
I can add the DIR tag manually.
just wondered if the FISH can do this for me...  :P

So every finaly work... and then, the HTML validator...

WHAT, ERRORS howcome??

Well the mambelfish component you placed in your template file:
Code:
<?php echo mosLoadComponent( 'mambelfish' ); ?>

is realy nice... but is does not replace the & sign with &.

Luckely the boys and girl at Joomla! inc already wrote a function which replaces the & with the &
The function is called ampReplace (shokking).

So you open the mambelfish.html.php in the components directory.

Find this little bit of code
Code:
return sefRelToAbs( $href );

and replace it with this
Code:
$href = ampReplace($href);
return sefRelToAbs( $href );

This is the first part. If you use images (little flags) you also have to close the images in a XHTML fashion ().

Because all code ends with a border="0">
you can do a find and replace border="0"> with border="0"/>

Now try validating. That looks better doesn't it?

So thats it. I attached my mambelfish.html.php to this discription. Maybe we can incorperate it in the default files.

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Thanks MarkV for the suggestions.

I have added / to the end of IMG tag and have fixed the index.php?lang=xx and warnings about $GLOBAL['mbf_dir']

Let me know of any problems (as if I needed to ask ;).

Geraint

p.s. MarkV I believe the "&" vs "amp;" problem is embedded in the sefRelToAbs function since it just adds the &lang=xx.

p.p.s.For the technically minded the langlist now contains the URL containing the URL to be switched to which means it goes through setRelToAbs properly:
Code:
         default:
            if ( count($langActive)>0 ) {
               foreach( $langActive as $language )
               {
                  $langOptions[] = mosHTML::makeOption( HTML_mambelfish::_createHRef ($language->iso), $language->name );
               }
            }
            $langlist = mosHTML::selectList( $langOptions, 'lang', 'class="inputbox" size="1" onchange="document.location.replace(this.value);"', 'value', 'text', $iso_client_lang );
            $outString = $langlist;

yeah i know, but if joomla upgrades that file, and we perform a upgrade our edited file will be overwritten.
Bij implementing it in Mambelfish the edit surfives a possible update. Futhermore i'm not sure what the consequences are of edditing sef.php because i'm not using sef (wamp def machine).

I've been, and keep, getting the validation problem with "&lang=xx". No matter what I try and/or modify, it remains "&lang=xx". I'm looking to make it say "&lang=xx".

I did try the last changes provided above (the last one I assume  :o in mambelfish.html.php also), but nothing. Anyone know what I could change next? Thanks

Hmm.
I tried the last modification of Geraint with a combobox and it did not switch.
Checking the generated html and I found that no language was selected at all.
Maybe this statement should be changed from:
Code:
$langlist = mosHTML::selectList( $langOptions, 'lang', 'class="inputbox" size="1" onchange="document.location.replace(this.value);"', 'value', 'text', $iso_client_lang );

into
Code:
$langlist = mosHTML::selectList( $langOptions, 'lang', 'class="inputbox" size="1" onchange="document.location.replace(this.value);"', 'value', 'text', HTML_mambelfish::_createHRef ($iso_client_lang) );

The trick is at the end for selected.
It works also with standard SEF enabled. ;)
