In first, Knowing that:
“The package of component, modules and bot's will be a separated addon for the Joomla! 1.0. From the time that Joomla! 1.1 will be released the Fish will be part of the core distribution.”
Which is the practical difference from your project JoomFish to
G-Tran
Yahoo Traduction FR
???

Second, waiting joomla 1.1:
if I install joomla in English standard English and I write content in Italian language, when will be released the joomla 1.1 I'll can add my contents to Italian language default ?
and/or which is the best logicall solution ?

Post subject:  Re: Joomfish and joomla 1.1

The JoomFish is a component that supports manual translation process, not automatic translation.

I didn't looked into the details of the G-Tran or Traduction solution yet, but I assume they are similar to the bablefish of altavista.

These solutions do have the handicap that for a professional translation the don't fit mostly. This is the reason why the Fish supports the process of your translations and the possibility to keep track with the changes. This helps to have a professionally translated site and not just a translated site. Anyhow you might want to use these automatic translators in order to translate your content, which is absolutly fine.

Post subject:  Re: Joomfish and joomla 1.1

No there is no date set yet.

I'm working on it but I like to make a cleanup of the code in order to make it really good and best integrated in the Joomla! release.

It will take some time still

No, it is not. And not intended to be in SVN either.

It will not be included in the package but dowloadable separately.

;)

It's a pity  :(

So the information here http://developer.joomla.org/sf/projects/joomfish "From the time that Joomla! 1.1 will be released the Fish will be part of the core distribution" is wrong and should be corrected...

Thanks for your information

Post subject:  Re: Joomfish and joomla 1.1

It will be developed by the core developers, and will be distributed as a module under Joomla 1.1. This way, there is not really a difference with it being part of the core, or downloadable as a module.

Post subject:  Re: Joomfish and joomla 1.1

I see.

The point is: I want to develop a multilingual website with Joomla!. Now I don't know if I should wait until the 1.1 release (end of november?) or start with Joomla 1.0.3 and MambelFish. People seem to have quite a lot of problems with MambelFish, but (as always) I should start as soon as possible with the project...

What are your suggestions?

Thanks a lot

I have the same "problem".. I have a client that ordered a website from me and I have a dead-line end of december.. It will be 2 languages (english/swedish) content.. Does anyone know a date for the JoomFish? Or is it ok to use MambelFish (I heard it is very slow?).. Any suggestions would be highly appriciated.. /Asgeir

Also found this post:

"The joomfish (former mambelfish) will be fully integrated (although dowloadable separately).

Objective: release early November."

...
Is that true, and when will JoomFish become downloadable?...

Joomfish will be released normally at the same time as Joomal 1.1

Joomla 1.1 is now alpha and getting better each day.

There will be an update to the roadmap soon, but I would be surprised if Joomla 1.1 will come out before the end of the year.

Post subject:  Re: Joomfish and joomla 1.1

Is there somewhere a feature list of Joomfish?

Actually I just want to know one thing:

Will it be possible to have only particularly content multilingual?

For instance a few sections and related categories and all the rest becomes "invisible"?

This would be very handy for the big sites, containing hundreds of pages. Lots of clients want only "some important" content multilingual, the rest they just want to keep in their motherlanguage and hided from foreigners.

thx

Spi

i need to set up a site in two languages by the end of Jan'06. So... i think it is wise to go for mamblefish... though?
Cannot imagine there will be a development-boost during Xmas.

Post subject:  Re: Joomfish and joomla 1.1

Development has/is been done every day for quite a long time now. Considering there is another Alpha version coming out and a beta, I think it will be indeed better to use the things that are here now, instead of stressing for the 1.1 release
