Whatever the name chosen ... I implore the dev team to remember that many of us have important client projects based on Mambo, along with some very nervous clients wondering what the hell is going on with the open source platform their entire site is built upon. Please resist the urge to choose a name that's cute, or defiant, or makes a political statement against Miro, or generally sounds like something a leftist Latin American revolutionary would come up with.

There are literally thousands of people who need to "sell" whatever comes next to their clients. A rapid transition to a new and professional-sounding community is absolutely essential in this context.

I don't know if this has been suggested, but here is a name that has some meaning: Phoenix or Phoinix

To sum up the Phoenix would burn to ashes from whence the new and young Pheonix emerges. It's a powerful icon of what I see here...after the ashes settle the new cms will be the Phoenix rising - younger, newer, better.

Just a thought.

The name of our CMS does not have to remember to the Mambo name and yes the characteristics.

My suggestion is: Conspicuo. In portuguese, my language = notable, illustrious.

The "Mambo" is a CMS notable, illustrious the best one of the world.

E will be better still with freedom.

Yesterday on the other thread the name Qhana was suggested and I like it. It mean light, web, red, -->>enlightening the web in the Amerindian language Aymara.

Short, two syllables, multicultural, good meaning, not English, the only thing is that it is not obvious how to pronounce and could end up as q-hana or quana.

What about Xiphias or just name it Freedom.

Don't attach the CMS lastname... we know what it is and people will know because we tell them...

Xiphias is the word for sword-fish, I know it has no meaning with a cms software, but I like it better than feenix, because its so relevant to the browser we love... A sword-fish is ofter refered to a programer or programers who hack code, new name for the term hackers which unfortunately it converted to a term meaning something unlawful. Sword-fish are good hackers...

I am starting to like the word Freedom... think about it...

Developers do this or that to the freedom foundation...

Freedom Developers purchase Microsoft for $1

Freedom is a world class CMS that lets you expand and express in total freedom whatever you wish to do. Its Free codebase is available worldwide... yadda yadda...

And yes you guessed it, it's free.

PS. Just in case... don't mention if the domain is available. If it is just register it or offer it to the devs... yeah its a gamble but its better if its not known or it can be transfered than having some idiot ask 20K for it...
