I am using Joomla 1.0.13 and Ijoomla Magazine. I have placed an image rotator on my front page to display images that link to various stories in my newspaper. This works fine.

The module is displayed in position user5 in my template, and remains on the page when a reader clicks and goes to any specific article. Is there a way to only display a template position on the main page? Or is there a way to only display a module on the main page, whereby the template position will colapse on a story page?

The site is www.svweekly.com.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Bob

You can display a module only on the main page(home page) or any selected pages .
in the admin Backend go to Modules->Site modules
Choose your module .
On the right there will be a number of pages where you can display the module.Select the ones you want.
Hope this helps

I think the original poster was identifying a well-known design "fault" in Joomla.

If a module is placed onto a front-page, category or section's blog-style (or list-style) page, then the module appears not only on that page, but also on the article page if you click through on an article.

Help is at hand though - check out MetaMod for Joomla on the Joomla Extensions Directory, which can help you to precisely place modules onto exact pages, e.g. excluding them from the article page that you click through to:

http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/access-a-security/frontend-access-control/3391

It's available for Joomla 1.0 and 1.5 (native).
