Standard display among components

Post by carlotheman » Wed Nov 08, 2006 9:40 pm

I am completing the finishing touches on my new Joomla site http://www.blazzi-b.com. This site is for a music production company, and it is very important to get a uniform look across components; unfortunately, every component uses different markup to display a 'title' and, worst of all, many use impossible-to-change inline CSS that might go very well with the shoe factory but are hopelessly out in the world of Entertainment business. (Vice versa would probably not work either).

So here is my suggestion: Ensure that all components use only standard Joomla CSS; make it a strict joomla only policy. This way, we won't have to worry about a component fitting into our site. Also, some components offer themes; these have to be manageable from within a the current directory, and it needs be taken care that themes are only used when it makes sense, as every bit of nonstandard code in a component exponentially increases development time for clean-looking sites.

Thank you.

Carlo

Carlo, I agree with you and am working on a potential solution to this.. (maybe for J!, maybe for CMS products in general)
