Re: LOGO: meerkat (aka Surikate)
I saw the Oreilly site and DivineChaos is right, I wouldn't even consider that a logo, is just a picture.
As far as the animal itself being used for the project, is nothing unusual to have the same animal in different logos for different things.
If it was, then all these guys should have a chat and change their logos because all use a Bull.

http://www.redbull.com ( A drink, which I really dislike by the way).

Luciano, when you created the original entry for this post, did you draw the full body of the meerkats or just the heads.
If you did draw the whole bodies, could you post that graphic?

This has got to be the winner, it says it all, together, community, the lot.
I did like the idea of making it a cool meerkat by adding the shades..
Superb work.

This is on my list for a top 5 slot.
Cool design, works well scaled and has a great community feel.

I'm not normally one for cute and cuddly mascots but I think in this case you've manged to achieve the right balance.
The meerkat thing I think really works with the name.
Once again great work. That's 2 of yours in my top 5.

Excellent design, nice colors.
complex enough in a natural way - this in my opinion is really important to convey.
I agree completely

Why a giraffe? proportion wise I don't think they would look good.
without counting the fact that the larger animal would take the attention instead of the Meerkats.... (coolkats.)

I think that you have a "strong" competitor here, Luciano. Congratulations.
