Mod note topic split from here to Joomla and Dynamic Fonts since it was kinda going off topic, as it has got nothing to do with bug fixing and testing the malayalam translation pack. For a fuller and indepth discussion feel free to discuss about Joomla and dynamic fonts as much as you can there.. Thanks

I am so glad to see that we had made a lot of progress in Malayalam Joomla. Congratulations to Sunil and Romit. Ofcourse Vish had helped a lot cheers to him.
If you guys need a test website, I can provide you one either in godaddy or lypha where I have some space and traffic to spare. Just let me know.
I have already down loaded the file and is also testing it locally as well as in a website. I will write the details later

Ok then never mind

by the way, I was going through the files malayalam.php and have some suggestions.

Present >>to>> new?

DEFINE('_CMN_SAVE','രക്ഷിക്കുക'); >>to>> DEFINE('_CMN_SAVE','സൂക്ഷിക്കുക');

DEFINE('_CMN_PRINT','പ്രിന്റ്‌ '); >>to>> DEFINE('_CMN_PRINT','അച്ചടിക്കുക');

DEFINE('_CMN_REQUIRED','അവശ്യം'); >>to>> DEFINE('_CMN_REQUIRED','നിര്‍ബന്ന്ദിതം');

DEFINE('_AUTHOR_BY', ' സമ്പാധകന്‍'); >>to>> DEFINE('_AUTHOR_BY', ' രചയിതാവ് ‍');

I will go though the complete files and post my suggestions one by one. I hope this would help us discuss and refine the language use.

Cheers

No no edit!
Ok, now I tried with the new file available in the Indic joomla site and the error is gone but now I have other problems also

On language instalation malayalam.ignore.php is not up loaded. I dont get any error now, but UTF 8 does not work any more

I cannot set malayalam as defaul language is the Country locale for malayalam  mal_IN ?

In the lanuages when I try publish the language it returns an error

(That was my fault config was not writeable) :P

Joomfish takes Malayalam, But when i opt that language, I get just wiered letters and not malayalam (earlier I did get the fonts correct)

update
I insalled Hindi and simplified chinese and this works fine in the same site

Those were good catches xtrance..
Good work..
On language instalation malayalam.ignore.php is not up loaded. I dont get any error now, but UTF 8 does not work any more
Both Fixed NOW.. Get the new version from http://www.indicjoomla.org/malayalam/

I don't know about the JoomFish compatibility issues you are having as I have not tested as yet on it..
but can you check after installing the latest version of translation ?

If not I will have to investigate further..

About Language Translation suggestions Sunil might be able to help you with that..

Cheers

Hi Romit,
What you mean by " but can you check after installing the latest version of translation ?
", Joomfish or malayalam language? Now I am deleting all malayalam language files and trying to install the new file.
The Joomfish is 1.7 version

I will get back in few minutes

Ok

changing Define ISO did the trick!!

Good work romit!

Now i will test it further with Malayalam language contents, menu and other things

There is no problem with Fish now, I can select all languages and it works fine, the translations I must check. Once I do some testing in the next few days, I will come back with more feedbacks

Cheers!

Hi Sunil,
I saw the site and the changes you made, Infact I didnt knew you were working on these text, so I was also testing the same in a new domain registered by me joomlamalayalam.org, I couldnt do much, since I was busy with few other works.
I put the site online and you can check it if you like to. If you may wish so I can also get you admin rights so you can test and work.
Unless Vish agree and it is approved by Joomla, for the time being joomlamalayalam.org will remain as a test site.

By the way, as Vish said we must change the dates to Malayalam, but I am not sure how this would affect a multilingual site.

regarding the fonts, i am also a little puzzled  ???
My thought is, is there any chance that the SQL is not rendering properly in the server?
Or it could be... even in UTF-8, you need the font actually used and you do not have the fonts installed ?? I used the OS Ilamozhi -varamozhi lite http://adeign.googlepages.com/ilamozhi.html to translate the text.
In my system also, at times the fonts are not rendering properly and then when you refresh the page it works  :P
Any way if you check it once more it will be nice. Please also let me know what is the automatic Coding IE takes ISO or UTF??
There must be something I did different in my site, in comparision with indicjoomla site. In the indicjoomla, I dont get this problem atleast till now.

regards

better more i think u should download varamozhi http://varamozhi.wikia.com/
and use it.

pls note: varamozhi uses matweb. u should export to unicode to make it unicode.
then u can just copy and paste it to the content pages.

BTW malayalamjoomla.org is still not viewable in malayalam.
im afraid u ended up using a dynamic font because u were using IE while typing in iLamozhi. (I think u should have used firefox. !! -- if didnt know firefox doesnot support dynamic fonts.!!!!!)

Sunil, you are the one who deserve the pat. you are the one who did the tedious part of translations
Now I am waiting for the reply from Vish for the next step. If we want we can complete the joomlamalayalam.org as the exclusive language site, with links to all other Indian Language sites and of-course Joomla.org
Then we have to implement it some active websites in which Malayalees do visit so that people should know. Once the whole thing is clear, I will implement it in Vienna Malayalee Association website.

Then I have plans to have a multilingual site for NRIs (PravasiBharatiya Network) but that will take time, and there I might need the support of various Indic language groups especially Vish.

By the way Sunil, did you check the joomlamalayalam.org site later? Any changes?

JK

Sunil and JK

Excellent work with IndicJoomla! Malayalam translation and kudos to Romit for working on setting up the demo site as swiftly as possible. I will confess, that if it was me, it was going to be slow.

Now to address the questions that has been raised here by JK, I must say that I would not encourage another domain name (like joomlamalayalam or joomlabegali) catering to Indic joomla languages at all. I envision all the Indic (Indian) languages under one umbrella, that is IndicJoomla!. Of course I cannot stop you from having a domain and promoting in whatever way you like, but IndicJoomla (and hence myself)  will not support having such a domain.

Now, having said that, you can choose to do the both, be under IndicJoomla! umbrella and have your own domain for your language as Romit has done. jooomlabengali as of now is redirected towards indicjoomla. And that is fine by me. You support IndicJoomla and IndicJoomla will support individual language domains.

In summary, lets stay together and not get ourselves into this domain per language idea.
