I only have wait for vbulletin 3.5 RC3 and checked if all needed hooks are really added, they are so i split the final Version the next days for 3.0.x and RC3 , the Version for vbulletn 3.5 RC3 needs no longer a patchhandler because this verson will only use the vbulletin pluginsystem.

Predator,

I am going to purchase vbulletin soon.  Can you setup some sort of link to vbulletin so you get some kickback for the purchase ?  vbportal.com has some sort of deal with vbulletin ... can you do the same ?

The folder media in mambo/joomla root must be writeable.

During automatically installation of an component the files will be copied on their place with the apache user, problem you are not the apache user ( mostly wwwrun ) so you can`t overwrite them but with most clients ( i.e. ws_ftp ) you can delete the files and than upload the new files again.

Marko, I'm a new user here, but could really use some help.  I just bought vBulletin last night, just so that I could use Vbridge with Mambo.  I'm very sorry that I didn't see you had a referral, or I would have gone that way.

Anyway, I am trying to upload the component, but I keep getting this error message:
Quote:
Upload component - Upload Failed
ERROR: Could not find an XML setup file in the package.

Upload component - Failed
Installation file not found:
.../xxxxx.org/media/install_432428ac6d091/vbridge_rc3/

Can you help?

Thanks so much in advance!

Hi Hammerhead,

first you have to unzip the vbridge_rc3.zip because this is only a package where all others included.

If unzipped you will set files called com_vbridge.zip -> this is the component to install and some modules.

btw what prob did you had on my site, by registration or by posting, i can post there others also.

Regards

This is only needed if you use both in different databases so check "Use different Database" No and the rest doesn`t matter only vb_prefix must be added.

To show forumthreads you have to add the forumids in the last parameter, but only forums which exist.

By using the module on the right side activating all columns is to much, only use Last Post, the rest should be hide.

it"s been a while predator, sorry had too much to do. so lets get back to the topic.

i"m running vb 3.5 RC3 now. and need my user's to have profiles that should work as they do on myspace or well basically fully customizable pages. for which i believe i'll need mambo.

now questions reguarding vbridge.

how well exactly do the 2 softwares work together.

1) do users have to register both? mambo and vbulletin? or can they use the same account?

2) will both user profiles work? and will the mambo profile be able to display their vbulletin information?

The bridge will use both user tables registration, editing, deleting, adding will effect both user tables. Currently you must install if you have allready a vbulletin working, mambo into the same database, by sync the vbulletin user will be imported to mambo.

you can login via mambo or vbulletin.

Registerpage can be used from vbulletin or mambo ( is setable in the config which should be used ) i recommand vbulletin.

Both profiles will work but will show only their normal profile ( i.e. mambo profil will only show in the normal way )

If you have got 1 or 2 days before doing this the final will release with to different version one for 3.0.x version and one for the 3.5 series, different is than, for the 3.5 series the vbridge use only the pluginsystem of vbulletin, so no patching needed.

you mean the final vbridge? ok sounds good i can wait 2 days.

aber mach mal kurz halblang...

did you just say the ONLY THE NORMAL PROFILE WILL BE VIEWABLE?????

so i can't edit the mambo profile with mambo mods, components, or whatnot? that's the only reason i'm installing mambo. so my users can have alterable profiles.

hab ich dich da echt richtig verstanden?  :o
