ok I got VBulletin 3.07 (not installed yet) I am currently running Mambo 4.2.3 and it's a live site...

I just downloaded VBridge RC2...

Before I start this is there anything I need to know like this doesn't work with an already existing and running bersion of Mambo?

Now that RC2 requires one database I want to be sure to avoid any pitfalls that could result...

Other than the backup the database and mambo files is there anything else I need to do to prep before I install both the bridge and the VBull?

Mambo 4.2.3?

Which Version do you really have? Tested and supported is 4.5.2.x

Currently the vBridge is for existing vBulletin user and empty Mmabo, if you want the other way existing mambo user to a new vBulletin installation you have to wait 2 days when i really RC3 which also sync existing Mambo User to vBulletin.

They can not log in because

a) The user is not in vBulletin

b) the password combination with md5 is now working the vBulletin way, so thirst you have to wait until i release the new RC3, when everybody has to use the lostpassword function.

btw i`m collecting existing converters to build a multi converter, can you sent me the php2mos converter you have?

Thanks in advance

yes my brain farted predator...
It's 4.5.2.3 (maybe wrong on the .3)  It's the patched version of 4.5.2...

I can wait no big rush...
I don't really have many users in Mambo yet, mostly just admin and some backend accounts for customer support, webmaster etc... and obviously none in vbull yet...

I can wait on the install but I'm glad I asked first! LOL

Thansk for the quick reply

I am posting this here as I seem to be having big problems with the wh-solution forums where firefox keeps trying to download the php files to disk rather than opening them in the browser.

What I would like to know is whether it is possible to install the bridge and then use Impex to import a phpbb forum and then somehow update the users in mambo ?

I know you can use impex before installing the bridge and it works fine. I just wondered if it is possible to do it the other way round ?

It is possible but currently you have to set check_user in the vbridge_config table back to 0 , then you can run the sync user again, yes it is a little complicate saw this too late in the RC3 which comes today or tomorrow this will be changed that way when you click verify user the bridge checks both tables -  if there are unsync user the value in the config will be set back to 0 to allow sync the user again.

This may be a terribly stupid question, but a new Mambo install and a new VBulletin install with no users in either databae will work perferectly with this bridge right?

Yes.
vBulletin users will get imported to Mambo.
All Mambo users deleted.
Use a different admin email address for vBulletin or on user import to mambo you may get a duplicate email error message.

RC3 is probably going to be out within a day or so.
AFAIK with RC3 you will be able to merge the two user tables (rather than replace).

Hi,

just wonder, would this PlugIn (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=94041) work with vBridge and also deletes users in Mambo Userdatabase?!

Regards,

Tobi

The vbridge only supports the "normal" buildin prune user function, which normally covers all needs.

sorry, i am looking at wh solutions, mamboserver and here and there seems to be some confusion as to which is the 'official' place to discuss vBridge.

perhaps you could post the answer here and then close whatever topics are not the 'official' discussion/support topics and provide a link to the 'official' spot.

thankyou - i would love to follow this, and am close to installing it, but dont know where to look.

I`m not able to close a thread at mamboserver but i wrote where what the "official" site is wh-solution.com and second support will also be given here at Joomla! but not at mamboserver.

Hope this helps ;)

thankyou, downloading v-bulletin now and have fresh install of **mbo 4.5.2.3 to work with.

may i ask - can the same instructions for installing vBridge RC1 be used for installing vBridge RC2?

I am referring to the instructions in the documentation area of your site - http://www.wh-solution.com/all_about_vb ... ridge.html

If so, perhaps you would like to change the title to:

"vBridge for Mambo 4.5.2.3 - RC 1 and RC2 Installation Instructions".

Am looking forward to it - thanks for all your work - it will all be worth it!!

Thanks for the hint, yes you can use it also for RC2.

If you need to import not only vbulletin user to mambo but also from mambo to vbulletin this weekend i will release RC3 which is able to sycn in both directions.

LOL thanks

Just make some tests which RC3:

Here a small overview:

Added: Turky language thanks to Deniz Senturk aka Anarchy
Added: Now also sync Mambo User to vBulletin
Added: Now able to sync more than once

Means mambo user can now also imported to vbulletin, so sync goes in both direction now, so ever vbulletin user which is not mambo user becomes mambo user, very mambo user which is not a vbulletin user becomes a vbulletin user the password is now also converted.

vbridge RC 3 released

Download here

Bugtracker here

Demo

Requirements
----------------------------------------

- Mambo 4.5.2.3 installed and working
- vBulletin 3.0.7 / 3.0.8 / RC 1 / RC2 installed and working

Existing Databases has to be merged.

A multi-database version of the bridge will be released sometime in the future.

- vBulletin must be under the mambo root i.e.

If mambo is in:
/home/httpd/vhosts/sitename.com/httpdocs/

vBullettin should be in:
/home/httpd/vhosts/sitename.com/httpdocs/forum

For update from RC2 to RC3 please read the included update.txt

Thanks rw1

The next release will be the Final 1.0 need to wait until vBulletin 3.5 RC3 is out to change for the 3.5 Versions to the new vbulletin pluginsystem to avoid patching the vbulletin files.

Next major release will have the ability to use vBridge with different databases ( but the databases must be on the some server )

This would be incredibly helpful, especially for VBs with large databases. It's always much handier for both backup and upgrade purposes to maintain separate DBs for everything.

Meanwhile, I'll echo everyone's thanks for your work on this. Am testing it out on several sites and once I better get the hang of your coding, I'll be able to jump in pretty soon with some enhancements. Very nice bridge. Very nice indeed.

Not really this is on the ToDo somewhere at the bottom, main goal is vbulletin and mambo.
