CoreSEF Hack for Joomla 1.0.2

As discussed in this thread: http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,427.0.html i'm pleased to announce the Release of an Core Hack to give you extended SEF URLS without using a component for it.

The Hack also supports the sef_ext.php files for SEF Advance.

Demo:  http://www.joomladeveloping.org/

Download here

Beware this is a Corehack and not an official Core Addon.

Just overwrite the files in your Joomla 1.0.2 installation with the files contained in the zip folder, go to your Global Configuration and change the needed values. This only works if the "normal" Coresef" has worked before.

when i click Download here there is no file found. link is broken.

Keep in mind there are known issues with the current version for J 1.0.4.

Any ideas when next version is coming out?

I'm having problems with Pagnav when content is set to blog view. Clicking on the page #'s always goes to Homepage.

Thanks,
Jacob

Have fixed this. Will be in the next release.

@abskure

I have not upgraded to 1.0.5 due to a bug in this Version where you also need a patch, so will release a version which is tested with 1.0.6 but the Version for 1.0.4 works also for 1.0.5 ( don't forget the patch then ).

Hi,

Thanks so much for your great work  :)

But when i try to use your Core SEF hack for testing with Joomla 1.0.5, i got this error message:

Code:
Warning: eregi_replace() [function.eregi-replace]: REG_EMPTY in /var/www/users/***/includes/sef.php on line 1147

Warning: ereg_replace() [function.ereg-replace]: REG_EMPTY in /var/www/users/***/includes/sef.php on line 1150

Thanks for any help :)

So how come 1.0.5 has been released as Stable? or it's ok to have some bugs that won't effect greatly to  users?

The bug affecting SEF in 1.0.5 was one that was not picked up in the testing process and was only discoved when released.

The only reason for this was due to the slightly inadequate testing period given to 1.0.5 and we are instituting steps to improve Qualty Control and Testing for future Stability Releases.

I have a question that what might be an issue - related to this hack.

I am using this hack on an earlier version of Joomla and have an issue whereby urls in links within content such as:
/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=27&Itemid=55
are not being reformatted on the fly to the SEF format. It took a little while to conclude that to get the urls to be reformatted correctly I had to also embed the livesite at the beginning of the url http://www.somedomain.com/index.php?opt ... &Itemid=55

I haven't been around that much lately and for the life of me I don't recall whether this is part of this hack's role or another element's.
As my site is slightly older I don't know whether or not to try an updated version of the hack to see whether this would clear the issue, so for now I am trawling through my site manually looking for urls and prefixing them with the domain name. I suppose some SQL could do the trick - time to brush up on my SQL syntax perhaps.

Dean.

Has development stopped on this hack?

If so, does anyone know if my urls created by this hack which are indexed in google etc will resolve to urls created by opensef?

Regards

I would think that depends on your configuration of OpenSEF.  I haven't tried it, but I believe there is some flexibility in how the URLs are written.

Development on CoreSEF is on hold while OpenSEF is finished.
CoreSEF was started when we still did not have open source code for OpenSEF available.
To amuse himself, Marko coded CoreSEF.
He plans to update this hack once all the issues are identified and fixed in OpenSEF.
Right now CoreSEF has a number of the same problems which have been fixed in OpenSEF.

The URLs created by OpenSEF should be identical to those created by CoreSEF if you use the same configuration settings.
