I have several sites taht are having this problems and I have manually run queries on the database to fix the problems on an ad hoc basis.

I am running MySQL version 5.0.18, Apache version 2.2.0.

My version of Joomla is stated as in the COPYRIGHT.php file
$Id: COPYRIGHT.php 10381 2008-06-01 03:35:53Z

I am hav1ng all the same problems and I see a mish-mash of solutions over this entire post. I havew tired a few but to now avail.

I will keep searching, but there must be a solution to this problem that is laid out step by step.

This problem is big enought that it would be great to get it fixed within a new build.

Brian

Would you please look in the changelog file and determine your build that way. Also your version should show in the adminsitrator on the upper right.

Can you please update to 1.5.9 so that we're all on the same version?

Also please use the forum post assistant detailed version to post information about your environment. Say exactly which SEF options you are using and whether you have livesite set.

Maybe I wasn't clear in my reply.

This absolutely fixed my problem. I enabled Joomla System Cache and the leading "/" wasn't showing up, which broke all my images and caused me to loose the CSS. I bumped "System - SEF" to be #1 in the plugin manager and now the leading "/" has returned.

Thanks for the help Sykong, that was a very easy and simple fix, you saved me hours of troubleshooting!

I had the same issue of getting SEF to work on navigation but not on the images embedded in articles. After many hours of pulling my hair out I realized a few months ago I disabled the "System SEF Plugin". Enabled and all is golden. I'm thrilled with and disappointed in myself at the same time.
