Took me a while to find a solution, using new editors etc... but adding the www. in front of your webpage URL in admin-mode was sufficient for me! Adding new articles and saving them smoothly!
Hope this one might help some of you!

Hi All,

I'm using Apache 2.2, PHP 5.4.3 and Joomla 2.5.4 on Windows 7 64-bit.
Received the same issue trying to change settings for any K2 item.
Only the cancel-button worked. Tried various different browsers and
played with cache settings and other tweaks to no avail.

Resolved the issue by enabling the JavaScript console in Chrome where I
noticed an error pointing to a webserver failure. Then found error messages in my
apache error.log:
PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_internal_encoding() in C:\\Apache2.2\\htdocs\\administrator\\components\\com_k2\\tables\\k2category.php on line 92, referer: http://beta.topnotch.com.au/administrat ... w=category
On further discovery I realised I didn't enable the php multibyte string function:
extension=php_mbstring.dll
in my php.ini configuration file. Uncommented the line, saved, restarted apache and the problem was fixed.

MY SIMPLE SOLUTION: This is what I did when articles weren't saving, applying and then even closing. I went into user manager, changed the editor from (in my case) JCE editor to no editor, went back to the article and edited it in the code, then saved. Thank goodness it worked.
