Hi there, getting a big problem here. Pull up a chair, have some popcorn... :pop

The issue essentially is the editors (jce / tinymce / the No Editor plugin), in the backend, aren't properly displaying changes made when the Apply button is clicked.

Can anybody confirm if they are seeing this? Especially if you are on Hostgator, using joomla 1.5.20X. Please!

The steps, open up an article in jce in the backend, type a few words, then click joomla's Apply button. Check carefully, are your changes still there in the editing window? Then repeat this process five or six times. For me, I can't get past two or three.

Some details...

Using Firefox 5, very latest joomla and jce. The problem is with any changes (even just a few words of text) just disappear from the editing window. Weirdly, when I look in another tab at the website and refresh, the text is there! So there is a mismatch between what the website is displaying and the editing window. If I repeat the process, type the same words in, click apply, the text finally 'sticks' in the editing window. (Even weirder, the text has remained the same on the website, ie, the same as what is now shown in the editing window, not repeated, even though I had to do it twice in the editing window).

The problem is the same in websites and backups I made months back, even though it wasn't apparent when I was making them at the time!!

I get a similar problem in Internet Explorer, although the details are different: the Save and Apply buttons usually do nothing.

Things are fine in the frontend versions of jce etc. All of the editors display the changes correctly. (But, I notice the save/apply process is different in that the Apply button is missing and a save sends me back to the web browser. So maybe this difference avoids the problem somehow.)

A reinstall of the joomla core, flushing the cache etc didn't do anything for the problem

Ideas, big please!!!!

In answer to all of this...

I narrowed it down to backend editing inside of firefox 5 and internet explorer 9. No problem in Chrome 12, Firefox 3.5 and Internet Explorer 8. So it's just the newer browsers.

Having said that, it's general to jce, TinyMce. And maybe it's just on joomla 15x ??

For me, my users edit only through the frontend so no problem. Hopefully a browser update will fix??

Let me know if any one else is seeing this or has some ideas.
