tarsiux, to whom will the petition/position paper be addressed to?  position in terms of/petition for? sorry, i do not understand your post/request (i saw it on the other board, too).  i'd be more than happy to support your endeavor, though, if i knew more.

Hey bro,

This whole thing just got me unprepared. I read the open letter last night and it made me suspect something strange is brewing. I tried to read the thread about the Foundation and I could feel all the fireworks exploding right from the opening pages, and those were actually from last week posts. But then this morning, I guess it's over? A great and awarded software had just self destructed! I don't know if I should be proud I've witnessed it. Well, what I meant by a position letter is much like the open letter by the dev team. It's like saying we, the pinoy mambo users, felt happy or sad about this development (I really don't know how everyone felt on this). Then finally, we'll say goodbye Peter or something like that. But I'm not sure if this is necessary, given all the deflections...

You know, I like Mambo, I really do.  At the other board, I tried to help others when I had time as a means of giving back.  However, I really do not know the structure of the organization -- how the development team came about, the role of Miro in the initial stage, it's role a month, a week ago, etc.  It's easy to say that without the development team there would be no Mambo.  Well, that's true.  But (I'm just assuming here and giving a different scenario of which I am not entirely sure nor do I claim this to be true), someone had to have spearheaded the project.  Was it Miro?  If not, who?  What really is Miro's role in all of this from the initial stage?  Middle stage?  Latter part?

Having said that, I'm not entirely sure I'm willing to cast a stone against one side versus another without first knowing the underlying history and the resulting struggle.  I know there is a thread on the other board, but it was a bit overwhelming for me to actually read.  Of course, I read bits and pieces, but not the whole thing.  So, I'm as ignorant now as I was before I opened it.

History aside, it is obvious that goals and purposes have now changed.  The dev team still believe in open source, while Miro believes in commercialism (at least from what I read).  Unfortunately for Miro, there is too great of a following already for Mambo to easily slip into store shelves without a fight.  Thus, here we are.

My point:  I am not sure I am in a position to draft a petition/position letter nor to sign one asking one side to do one thing while asking the other to refrain from doing something.  Mambo was here when I came.  I'm still trying to figure out how I fit in the scheme of things.  Now, I've been thrown against the corner by forces I did not expect nor could see.

Ha!  How do you like that?  It's the "I can't change a thing" coming out of me.  hehehe

I guess in one statement:  I do not know enough to take a stand either way.  But, I can take a side -- open source. I'm here and will stay here.

eto lang say ko about what happened:

miro is the australian company that created mambo (the original na pangit pa ang admin site, kung inabutan nyo yun) and the commercial mambo (na meron bayad at mas maganda ng konti ang features at interface). eventually ni-open source so that people can contribute to it - mapaganda at maayos ng wala silang binabayaran na in-house developer, gets po?

so sympre, madaming tumulong at lo and behold! when robert castley led the team, daming na-dagdag at di hamak na gumada ang gui ng admin. nagkaroon na ng templating system, meron ng components, modules & mambots na pde i-install and uninstall. at say nyo, meron ng built-in web-based editor. kung inabot nyo yung mga naunang version, pahirapan at kanya-kanyang install-an ng mga editor. swerte nga yun mga bago na naka-discover ng mambo ngayon eh, kse wala na silang kahirap-hirap sa dami ng mga CMTs flying around the web.

then bigla na lang eh the original creator wants it back, ano na lang iisipin mo? pinaghirapan mong pagandahin tapos bigla na lang kukunin sa yo, at pagbabayarin ka pa sa pag-gamit mo! makatarungan ba yun?

the community of developers made mambo what it is now and miro just stayed in the background waiting - waiting when to open its claws to get its prey.

<<-- fuyat alang tulog. susme..

where do i start?

@haligi,.. ahahhaha.. lufet about the post.. talgang lutang ba ang figures nang post? ahihihi. about sense ng post? havent check pa.. been terribly occupied. terribly occupied on a project now and syempre.. terribly occupied sa kaka POST! ahihihihi..

ahy syanga pala,.. dami chick dyan na kauri nating open source peeps. just keep a keen eye on their post.. you'll have that certain intuition naman kung babae ba or lalaki eh base sa post nya.. pero kung di talga makaya ng powers mo pre,.. pm mo agad! susme.. ang nahuhuli sa party gutom ang ina abot, di ba?

pero teka.. kugn pwede sanang number of POST mo convertible to $$ noh? siguro ang sipag nating dalwa!? ahhahahha.

@tarxius, yeah.. FLOWER POWER,.. since the old logo of m*mbo depicts a girlie gurly thingie. ahihihih... susme.. pahamak yang sig ko na yan sa kabila.. or might also be attributed sa avatar ko.. dati dami kong PM sa kabilang forum,.. oks lang sana kung mga inquiries about how to m*mbo eh,.. prob is guys and DOM's are hitting on me! waaaaaaaaaaaaah.. magugulat na lang ako.. may mag papa add sa ym or sa msn ko.. yun pala pag ka chat ko na.. magbabakasakali lang palang maka score. ahihihihi. teka.. pag nag kataon,.. hanap nga ako ng mga pictyur kong the most manwhore i can be.. so that matigil na yang mga masugid kong manliligaw na mga DOM.. ahihihi

on the serious side of the matter,.. about the pet/pos paper,.. if you'll ask me,.. honestly i dont believe it is necessary... our numbers here in OSC already can attest to that what our stand on the issue is. and everytime i visit this site.. i am always happy and excited to look in the figure in the upper left portion to see how many have been informed, thought about it, pondered and lastly realized that the community in the "other" forum is not anymore the community that we have grown to love.

IMHO.

on the legal side of the issue,.. i difer not to discuss about it.. i have been vocal in the "other" forum being as guilliam an open source advocate,.. not as guilliam a legal professor to edify them.. susme.. matatanda na yung mga yun.. if they are recieving that figure of $$$ from ads, donations etc,.. and refused to open the books.. defintely they already know what are their legal impediments.

@maverick.. ahy oo.. yan si reign(rain or reine or however she wants it.. ahihihi) dandang ka chat yan,.. dami kang matutu-nan dyan..  di lang pang pamilya pang isports pa! este.. pang php pala! ahihih.

@quicksync,.. hmmnn.. havent heard much from you today.. was wondering havent seen a post in the board comming from your account yet..

@raymond,.. yes pare,.. sa susunod papalitan ko na avatar ko.. in support of the call na mug shot daw.. pero amfuta,.. pano naman ang mga DOM na manliligaw ko nyan? di ko na maririnig pano humirit yung mga kups at pano dumiga.. at least kahit papano di lang sa nakaka tuwa (pag walang ginagawa) ang marining pano sila dumiga,.. its also a learning experience.. ahihihi

and re sa surplus project.. sige,.. ive seen your site and you have a good grasp naman on the m*mbo,.. how about nga pala simple hacks, kaya ba?

si @misty_belle nga pala nag reply sa sa kabila baka di nya pa alam.. at any rate,.. hoist haligi do the honors.. kaw naman mag invite na pumarito yung CHICK. ahihihi.. ala pang avatar pero seeing her site.. danda produkto eh.. as i have mentioned sa kabila.. kahit walang avatar makikita mo naman sa produkto nya eh. ahihihi. pero talo tayo dyan kay @audienceone.. neighbor lang ata nya yun eh.

@all,.. yes im amenable to the idea of moving/escalating the filipino forums to the intl forum level.. our numbers(pinoys here) are strong enough to ask for that extra space in the main intl forum board. we better ask rey about its feasiblity.

and btw.. kepp posting guys! magpapa premyo si franco sa pinoy na pinakamaraming post sa forum.. convertible to cash daw ang number of posts nyo! hows that? ahihihihi.

kung inabutan nyo yung older versions ng mambo and see mambo as it is now, you would really be thankful for all the developing times spent by each and every developer who contributed to mambo. volunteer work pa yun, as in no money involved, kse they believed in the product.

hindi rin e.  ikaw nahuli ko'ng lalaki agad.  pero, sa board, akala nila babae.  ako pa yung nahuli na "huh, babae ba si guilliam?"  hehe.  so, rami ring hirap basahin.  but then, it must be the long hair.  as for the flower power, akala ko parang "power puff girls" yon.

I agree, i think the number of people who have moved would stand as testimony to the fact that people do not agree with Miro's stance.  If anyone should write and take charge, it should be devs.  kasi, if we write, we'll only serve to muddy the water. there'll be more groups to deal with.

hi guys,

All points taken. The act itself of registering here is a statement enough. I rest my case. Miro and it's chief Peter did one hell of a bungled maneuver and now it's blowing in his face. Well, as long as everybody's here then I'll be fine with this new home.  :)

Except dun sa prayer component, which was due months ago, e di ako nakapag-release.

@misty_belle, galing ng gawa mo ah. malapit lang area natin... a lot of students here in cdo are learning to use m**** too. Inspired sa kayang gawin nito.

Man do i have a hard time keeping with convo's here, isnt that kinda sad, well at least i get to practice reading tagalog  ;)

Anyway the reason we are in the smaller forum is based on activity from the original Mambo Forums.
Should this forum become far more active, which I hope it does, than I will be proud to promote us into the main International Sub-Forum

Nice to have you all here.  I realise that some things are not very clear and unfortunately we are under orders to  remain silent for now.

Some sites i would recommend reading for a fairly accurate source of info:

@mamboph, sorry to burst your bubble.. but it will not be M*mbo anymore. if you can check on other threads.. heavy suggestion/poll threads are regarding the new name.. so for now we just hold and call it:

"TCMSFCM"

The CMS Formerly Called M*mbo...

simply reminds me of TAFKAP! ahahhaha

Josko, ang dami na palang posts dito! Ang noypi nga naman!

Ako rin, I got some clients due for a Mambo deployment. Right now, I'll stick to Mambo until OSM comes up with the next version. I won't hesitate to upgrade then :) Argh, excited na ko. Wish the new version will come out na.

Hmmm I tried to apply to PhilWeavers not too long ago, but my application was rejected  :-\

I guess as I am simply a codemonkey and not a creative/graphic designer I dont quite fit the profile  ;D
But then again I can hardly keep up with this community, to be trying to get involved with another  ;)

Hi Aldrin! Ikaw ba yung nasa PH-Cyberview? Or baka si Dido yun?
Wala po ako sa PH-Cyberview... Dido?? As in Rafael "Dido" Sevilla??
