I have started a new thread since only one person replied to my initial post. That response came from a person named Patricia and she has been great! I am very appreciative of her efforts. Unfortunately, they did not bare fruit but I blame myself, not her. After more than 7 hours of trying to bridge Joomla to phpBB2, I am convinced that it won't work for me. Maybe my server won't allow it to work but nevertheless, it does not work. In fact wiith Mehdi's files loaded into my database, I am worse off than I was brefore I started. I lose my forum site completely and only get errors. Rather than re-type the entire dialogue between Patricia and myself, I figured it would be best to just provide the link to that thread which is: http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,62351.210.html and begins towards the end of page 8 and flows into page 9 in the thread. If after reading this thread, there is someone who can prove me wrong and help me get this installed, I would be eternally grateful, but I won't hold my breath because again, I don't think it can be done. If anyone knows of another bridge that works well and does not require editing script, for stupid people like me, please forward the info to me at administrator@raymarineforum.com Kind Regards, Kevin Moloney Findlay, OH USA PS I am willing to pay $25 to anyone that can get this installed for me. I know that most of you did not have to pay anything to install this yourselves but I guess that's the price I have to pay for being stupid. |

hi kmoloney, at least there's this mistake: I've read Patricia instructions, and you have to ensure that "the processed files" match your cureent phpbb version (2.022 last release!). Anyway, I've just updated these files..... (please overwrite with new ones) Quote: I lose my forum site completely and only get errors. you just have to overwrite your forum with old files to recover it |

Thank you Mehdi, I did finally get it to bridge, but I can't gain access as admin. I don't understand your instructions on doing the quickmerge. Cduld you tell me in "baby" language, step by step, how to do it? By the way, I am the only registered member in my forum as well as in Joomla on my website, and it shows me being logged into both. But I don't see a hot link to switch to the administrator panel on the phpBB2 side. I can administer my Joomla files just fine. Do I really need to do the quickmerge since I am currently the only member. By the way, my phpBB2 forum is not intalled in the root. It is in it's own database and is located at http://www.raymarineforum.com/forum/ Would you mind taking a few moments to look at my website forum to see if you can figure out how to get to administrator log in? Please free to register on my website if required. I look forward to your quick reply. Cheers, Kevin |

hi kmoloney, Quote: But I don't see a hot link to switch to the administrator well, the joomla user should have the username as the one in phpbb in other to access admin rights .... easiest solution would be to create a new super administrator user in joomla that have exactely the same username of the one of phpbb. Quote: Do I really need to do the quickmerge since I am currently the only member. you don't need it, you can forget that script and create manually the corresponding user in joomla (exact same username). good luck |

Quote: I did what you said. I gave Super Administrator rights to the user name that I originally created in my phpBB2 database but I still can't access admin rights. what it the name/login of the original administrator in phpbb ? ensure you use this one .... also, I suggest that you empty entries the joomphpbb_bridge table (you can delete the table, and recreate it ) after that try again you should see the usual admin link at the bottom |

Hey Patricia, Your kind of cute . I know, I know, I'm such a flirt. I attempted the Coppermine to Joomla integration today with Mehd's Bridge and believe it or not, I was successful! Onthe first attempt even! I think I'm starting to understand Mehdi's way of giving instructions. It just took me time to learn how to read his mind. ![]() My website is looking really good. I am about to add FlashChat next and then its just a matter of tweeking the theme colors and finishing the input of the content. And then I'll flood the search engines so new users can find the website. Listen, if you ever need ANYTHING, you just say the word. I'm at your beckon call. You've helped me out so much. I really could not have done it without you! You take care and keep in touch. I'll be waiting to hear from you ![]() Godspeed, Kevin |

kmoloney wrote: Your kind of cute .So are my 4 kids... ![]() At this point I don't think I'm going to call you for anything Joomla related (just yet). Though it sounds like you're really getting the hang of it. ![]() But I'll keep your offer in the back of my mind. Who knows... Take care, Patricia |

Hello all. I have a problem with the phpbb bridge. Although my menu is linked to the forum url and not the component I still get the {PHPBB_BODY_HTML} on my main forum page. I have 3 users in Joomla as of right now. I noticed that I can't run the merge script as I dont have the phpbb_users in the Joomla db. Oh and yes they are on seperate DB's. Can anyone help with this. Please. Thanks |
