Hi all.

I need to integrate an existing phpbb forum into a joomla site, is there a bridge or similar that WORKS? There are some on the extensions directory but the feedback isnt good.

Many Thanks

Gary

For the most part all bridges will have some issues, this is because of the way bridges are done for Joomla. Most bridges are done using core hacks to one or both systems, the software being bridged and or Joomla! . You might take a look at Jfusion which attempts to avoid core hacks by utilizing the new features in the Joomla! framework. It is beta though and of course only works with Joomla! 1.5.

Hi,
I just tried this one.
http://www.rocketwerx.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=368
There are some comments from users who've had issues, but I installed it on top of a fresh installation of PHPbb3 in Joomla 1.5.
I just followed the instructions, changed the "forum" and "distribution" settings to match my folder names,
and it worked first time. I think bridging is a great idea. It's not very professional having 2 unconnected sets of usernames.
This solution links my phpbb installation seamlessly with my Joomla site. (Getting the Phpbb style to look like my joomla template is going to be harder).
Best of luck.
Paul.

I'm also using J!1.5 and phpBB 3.0 and the RocketWerx bridge works flawlessly.

One thing I would like to see is a Joomla module for PM notification in phpBB.

Was using Rokbridge . Switched over to this one instead . http://blogomunity.com/joomla-extensions/communication/joomla-phpbb-bridge.html . Has many advantages to Rokbridge , with the exception of price .

JFusion is now out of the Beta phase as of April 2009. JFusion 1.1.2 RC PL1 is currently available for everyone who is looking to bridge Joomla with other Open Source software.
