seperate domains or through one domain?

ie forums.yoursite.com
or yoursite.com/forums

the first you need to style your phpbb template with the joomla header elements

The second you need a bridge of which Jfusion is my personal fav

http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/bridges

thnx for the reply
it's in the same domain. mysite.com/forum

the site was setup by some other person and everything was working fine. somehow we spoilt it and now the header menus cannot come out on top of the phpbb forum. the one who setup the site for us is in a different place now and we lost contact. we are not having much experience with joomla site.

so i am not sure what bridge he was using. the template is rt_synapse and the phpbb forum seems to be in a folder called DISTRIBUTION in the root.

how to do this?

Do you have a back up of the site which worked before overwriting the old site with the new site?

my guess is that you've updated you bb software and overwritten custom elements made to the original template rather than creating a seperate modified template folder with those changes in them this being the case when the site's been updated it's reverted back to the original changes.

At a guess.

either that or you've broken the CSS of the site.

As for how you do it then I'd suggest you post in the PHPbb forums asking for help as this is a PHPbb styling issue and not really the fault of Joomla, unless you can see that maybe the bridge you're using is out of date.

Look under the admin control panel section and go to Extensions >> Install/Uninstall and look at the version number of all the components modules and plugin's installed there and then check the relevant sites to see if you have the latest and greatest. If not update. Then see if this helps.

My guess is a broken or out of date bridge wouldn't misaligin the header though. It simply wouldn't show.

Finally if you are using Jfusion check you haven't turned on frameless mode without first having fixed the css in phpbb to have unique class attribute names so they don't conflict with the joomla css, this can cause styling issues.

You will be happy to know that we have finished an automatic CSS parsing system for the JFusion 1.2.x branch, that will take care of CSS conflicts for 99.9%. Release of this new version is expected in a couple of weeks.

Thanks, Marius

you know if I were a lady I'd marry you, Marius :)

Although dammit I'd just got my head around styling the site in frame less without it all the css issues!! :D
