Hi kuno, EDIT: fiazo  :laugh:
in attachement a screenshot of what I get.
You could try to clean your browser, clean cookies, an other browser like firefox.
EDIT: Not a cache issue , since two user (kuno & fiazo.com) see same error.
You could also try to view your website through unipeak.com (just for testing)

good luck

Ooops, I didn't realize that two different user were getting the same error , so it's not a cache issue.
I don't know why I don't see the problem.
Same through unipeak ...

Thanks for the help  :) Strange problem, isn't it? It's doing the same thing here in Opera, Firefox, & IE7. I also tried it on my Mac with Safari but it produced the same result  :( I'm trying to think of what could be causing the problem, but I'm out of ideas. I've considered that it could be 404sefx, but I checked and the component hasn't rewritten any URL's for the phpbb component since it only springs into action when I link to a component directly. Thanks so much for the continued assistance!

Edit: Just tried it through Unipeak and it's working perfectly there.  ??? Haha

I've considered that it could be 404sefx,
Try to uninstall it competly, as when unpublished, some mambots still perform a work ....
By the way , do you have Gzip compression disabled both in joomla , and phpbb ....
Do you use joomla cache functionnality ? try to remove all cached files or disable this.
That's what come to my mind.

Thanks Mehdi! I forgot about gzip - seems to be working okay now  :) Do you have AIM or MSN? I have a few other questions on how to better integrate it with CB. Thanks again!

Just installed this bridge, initially it looked like everything was working fine, new users could register, then log in and able to log into the Forum without a hitch.

Now, without anything being modified or added, I can log into Joomla but when I hit the forums link I get the good old "page cannot be found", however, when I am not logged in and hit the link I see the forum!

Anyone any ideas please as I really need/want this to work.

Default Joomla 1.0.10 installation
Default phpBB 2.0.21 installation
Bridge installed

username demo password demouser

Thanks in advance for any help!

I installed phpbb 2.0.21 and the bridge to my Joomla Site (v 1.0.10). When no user is logged in the forum displays fine but as soon as logging an i only get a blank page after clicking on the Forum link.
Here the settings from joomphpbb_conf.php:
$joomUrl="http://localhost/joomla"; //no trailing slash at the end
$joomRel= "../"; // relative path from phpbb,unlike previous setting this one should end with a slash
$joomIntegrate = false;

My Joomla installation is in localhost/joomla and the forum files are in localhost/joomla/phpbb .
Any clues what i have done wrong?

all right.
are you sure followed everything correctly in theFAQ ?
Which particular component/mambot/module you have ?
Did you tryed the bridge without anything else installed ? (just to ensure if there's not a conflict with something else).
And finally, if you're 100% sure there's not a misconfiguration or a conflict with something
please provide me informtion about how you made your local setup, so that I can reproduce the problem.
The last time I tryed my bridge locally, it was with easy-php 1.7 and it was running fine ....

Think I have everything right according to the FAQ. The variables for the host/domain setting are set as follows:
Joomla configuration.php:
$mosConfig_live_site = 'http://localhost/joomla';

joomphpbb_conf.php:
$joomUrl="http://localhost/joomla";
$joomRel= "../";

phpbb_config table:
server_name = localhost
script_path = /joomla/phpbb

I made a fresh install of Joomla 1.0.10 and only installed phpbb and the bridge. I am working on a local test system using xampp 1.5.1 as webserver (PHP version 4.4.1, Mysql version 5.0.18)

I am a new user & reading here I have installed phpBB & will be instaling the joomlaphpbb bridge, just want to know if this component is able to work with openSEF, as most of things break when using openSEF.
I just wan to be sure before I proceed.

Thanks.

Hi Mehdi

Its me again  :-[

The bridge was working fine however something happened. I can login to joomla as an administrator but get error message when I try to get to phpbb mind you that I did not have this problem when I first installed the bridge and this problem is only with joomla administrators, my joomla members however can access phpbb without any problem.

any suggestions please?

many thanks

well, a more complete description of the error would help .
If you are redirected to forum main page while trying to connect to forum's administration
then it is a known issue treated by the FAQ.

I can login to joomla as the administrator but when I click on the link to take me to bridged phpbb, I cannot access it at all and I get the following message from the phpbb:

You are very unlucky. Please contact Administrator

mind you that members and not administrators don't have this problem. they can access the bridged forum without any problem. I did not have this problem when I first installed the bridge

@ multimike
any new ideas concerning my problem?
I'm sorry but I'm also working in an other project  However your description of the problem is helpfull as you provide me an idea about how  to reproduce the problem. You don't have to wait, for the problem to be solved, as I cannot guarantee  that the problem will be solved soon.

@ hafez
You are very unlucky. Please contact Administrator
well that's an error that has a small probability to appear, unless you made something weird.
Explanation of the error:
when a joomla user connect and visit the forum,
the bridge automatically check if that user is associated to a corresponding phpbb user.
If it doesn't find one, then the bridge look if  there's no phpbb  user with Exactely the same name.
Now the bridge check if that php user is not already associated with an other joomla user.
If this phpbb user appears to already be associated to another joomla user,
then it make no sense to associate the currrent joomla user with it, isn't it ?

******** take a breath here for better comprehension ******

So suppose our joomla user is "popo", there's an other phpbb user called "popo",
unfortunately this phpbb user is associated to the joomla user "toto".
So the bridge cannot associate joomla user "popo" with phpbb user "popo".
Thus the bridge wil try to create a php user "popo2" .
But imagine the phpbb user "popo2" already exists ....
Should the bridge associate phpbb user "popo2" with joomla user "popo" ?
I think, that such behavior would be "unreliable".
So the bridge will try to create user "popo3".
Now imagine that all phpbb users exists "up to popo10".
Then the bridge would stop trying to create a phpbb user,
and display error "you are unlucky" (well after ten attempts)

authentication to phpbb

Post by maffia100 » Mon Aug 21, 2006 11:59 am

When I use the CB Login module it will pass on the authentication to phpbb atleast for that session but most of my users use the remember me check box and when you log in through cb login it doesnt pass the "remember me" for the forum.

So my question:
How can I Integrate the phpbb and joomla logins so that when you check "remember me" it will remember me on both joomla and phpbb ? Is it possible ?

Thanks in advance

Not realy, when the users log in to jomla they dont have to log in at phpbb, but phpbb ignore the users as long as they dont visit the forum, if you have some mods for example, like me, i have some mods that belong to phpbb that are user specific, so when a user are logged in they can display something that belong to the user, but as long they dont visit the forum it doesnt display the info to the user. Thats why i want that "remember me" thing.

I guess I mean if they log in to joomla then go to the forum it creates their phpbb account right?

Now next month they log in to my site and go to the forum.  Do they have to log into phpbb at that point?  Even though they already logged into joomla?

hi maffia100,

well, your mod require that the phpbb user is logged.
As soon as the user doesn't visit the forum, but joomla  only, the phpbb session expire after a certain time.
However, the user is re-logged transparently to the forum  by the bridge, as soon as he comes back to the forum.
The solution would be to keep the phpbb session alive at each joomla page visited.
That would require a mambot.
