Changes in XML needed for civicrm component menu--can someone explain it to me?

I was installing civicrm in 1.5 RC. In RC2 . The parts of the XML worked fine, but in the build I was using  yesterday (9292) the links no longer worked.

What I found was that the links in the xml were:

  CiviCRM
               
                        CiviCRM Home
                        Find Contacts
                        Manage Groups
                        Import Contacts
                        CiviContribute
                        CiviMember
                        CiviEvent
                        Administer CiviCRM
               

And that changing them in this way made them work:

CiviCRM Home
 
                        CiviCRM Home
                        Find Contacts
                        Manage Groups
                        Import Contacts
                        CiviContribute
                        CiviMember
                        CiviEvent
                        Administer CiviCRM
               


So, I'm wondering if this is something that impacts all 3PD components or something strange about civicrm and how it works with rc3. I would like to add something about this to the "why doesn't my legacy component work?" faq if it is needed.
