Free and pro versions

Post by JLinker » Wed Nov 04, 2015 1:04 pm

Hi everyone,
I have a free version of an extension listed in the JED. Is it ok to submit a pro version in parallel, or is it required to change the free listing to paid listing.

The question might sound silly but I just want to make sure I won't be breaking any JED rules by submitting 2 versions free/paid of the same software.

Thanks a lot for your answers.

thank you! what about the naming of the files:
can i give the same zip file name to the free and pro versions?
I'd like users to be able to install a pro version over the free one on their joomla installs.

the thing is when submitting the free version, i had issues with the validation process because the extension name and the listing name weren't the same.

The free version is as following:
extension name => com_myextension
listing name => My Extension

Is it ok to do the following for the pro version:
extension name => com_myextension
listing name => My Extension Pro

Yes, you can use the same file names. This is fine. :)
