This thread ran for several months trying to persuade the JED leadership to remove Joomla 1.6 and 1.7 version badges:
viewtopic.php?f=262&t=691295&start=30

After all that pressure was applied this blog post was published with two key promises:
http://community.joomla.org/blogs/leade ... pport.html
Quote:
The versions of 1.6 and 1.7, still currently in the directory, will be removed as of April 30, 2012.
This has not happened.

Quote:
As of April 1, 2012, the JED will only accept listings that are compatible with the latest Joomla STS Version (2.5). You may still mark the extension as 1.5 compatible, but no 1.5, 1.6, 1.7-only listings will be accepted any longer.
This has not happened.

So, I'm left to make the same recommendation as on the original thread:
Quote:
By allowing Joomla 1.6 and 1.7 badges on the JED, we're actively promoting unsafe software, confusing our users and causing extra work for devs.

The JED team leadership really needs to step up on this. If they don't have time, they should step down and hand over to someone who does.

+1

And also reminding everybody on the team that removing the old non-review votes should be a good idea and was confirmed to be on the todo list.

I fear you are talking to a brick wall steve. There were so many great discussions about improving, supporting and enhancing the JED at this years J & Beyond but the brick wall prevents anything happening and fails to live up to promises

Yep, it was topic numero uno among most of the third party devs.

Alright, seems like the badges situation has been cleared up. Sweet!

(The 1.6/1.7 badges are gone, but it seems 1.5/1.5legacy is still an accepted label if you submit a new extension - not sure whether that means you can still submit them.)

Next up: Removing the votes without review (which, again, was confirmed by a staff member).

Also - do I have to bump one of the other threads? How about at least a discussion if you've already decided you won't do them?

It seems the badges have gone but not the extensions - so now we have extensions with no version indicated
