No idea which version of Joomla my site's using but thought it best to start at 1.0. Discovered 80 pages of registered users who were obviously not meant to be there (names in Cyrillic etc.) so the first question is how did they get there? I've deleted them all but what can/should be done to stop them or others returning? Cheers.

Hi,

If you are using an old Joomla version, it contains a lot of security vulnerabilities.

One of those was fixed with Joomla 3.6.5: https://www.joomla.org/announcements/re ... eased.html

This page tells you how to block it with older Joomla version, but, remember to upgrade your website if you want to get ride of "easy" hacking.

The best way to find what version of Joomla the site is built on is to log in to the administration end, and look for menu item: System > System Information

It is menu item: System > System Info in some earlier (such as 1.0.15) versions

The information page will list what version of Joomla the site is currently running on.
