It is hard for me to go to api.joomla.org to get api reference and i searched a lot for CHM format help documentation but could not find anything on it.

Can anyone please tell me how to get the Joomla 1.5 documentation in CHM format AND IF this does not exist can anyone from the Documentation team start working on it?

We really need to have a CHM / PDF version of the API documentation

Thanks,

Asim

Hi Asim,

I did take a stab at producing a PDF version using phpDocumentor some time ago, but I ran into a lot of problems with the phpDocumentor PDF Convertor and ended up abandoning the effort for lack of time. As I understand it, CHM requires a Windows-only compiler as it is a closely-guarded proprietary secret so there is little incentive to make that happen.

So, PDF is on my to-do list, but it is not sufficiently near the top that it is likely to get done any time soon (which is a shame because I think it would be a lot of fun). I have no interest in CHM. But like anything in open source, if enough people want something someone will come forward and do it. All the tools for producing a PDF version are available in open source, it just needs someone with development experience to invest the time and effort to get it working. Perhaps you'd like to have a go?

Regards,
Chris.

This is a bit late, but for anyone who doesn't know, you have to unblock the CHM before you can use it. (Windows) Right click the file, click on properties, and click the "Unblock" button in the properties window. I downloaded the file -- works fine.

Cheers.
