Joomla 1.6 doccumentation

Post by DarkSlash » Wed Sep 09, 2009 2:18 am

I want to learn Joomla Development, but I want to do it in the new version. If I don't, I'll have to learn twice? The current functions/classes will be available in the new version? There's already Joomla 1.6 dev documentation?

Since 1.6 i still in a state of flux there is very little documentation on it yet. Watch this page: http://docs.joomla.org/Developers and this page: http://docs.joomla.org/Framework

As the target for a minor release is, if memory serves, 80% - 90% backwards compatibility there shouldn't be huge changes though. So you should be safe learning 1.5 and then updating your knowledge when 1.6 becomes stable. However, I say that from the standpoint of someone who hasn't yet had time to look at 1.6 in any detail.

Regards,
Chris.
